Sounding increasingly like a candidate, Donald Trump repeatedly told a raucous tea party crowd today he has the qualities needed in the White House and the conservative ideals necessary to seal the Republican nomination should he decide to run.
Trump struck familiar themes and talked about his own business acumen in his speech to hundreds gathered at a park here, where his name festooned signs, buttons and T-shirts of supporters. The real estate mogul even talked about the type of people he'd have serve as diplomats and said he was looking forward to releasing his financial disclosures.
"Most very successful people, the kind of people that we need running our country, don't want to be scrutinized and abused," he said. "This is the kind of person that this country must have right now."
He derided President Barack Obama, calling him the worst to occupy the White House in history. He again questioned whether the president was born in the U.S., even though the fact has been affirmed by officials in Hawaii, where Obama was born. And he maligned China, saying the U.S. should take control of Iraqi oil and described American infrastructure as third world.
Trump ticked through a number of issues seen as bedrocks for conservative candidates, saying he is anti-abortion, against gun control and wants to repeal Obama's health care law. Throughout the speech, he portrayed the U.S. as a nation in decline and himself as its potential savior.

Words you will never hear from Donald Trump: “You have nothing to fear from an Obama Presidency”. (Juan McStain 2008).
FGS, you are judging Trump on the basis of a television program?????????????
Sarah will get there eventually, but the media won't go along willingly.
Palin: Spoke to 14,000 in cold & snow.
Advantage - Sarah!
It’s south Florida. Rudeness is the norm. I should know....lived here for 55 years. Next year: Out. Of. Here.
Here it is again. McCain admonishing his supporters...
"McCain Booed For Calling Obama A "Decent Man You Don't Have To Be Afraid Of""
well, maybe those rude weasels were in Boca today...maybe your place tomorrow...cheers..and good luck with the house...
Yep. He's got the bone between his teeth and, bulldog that he is, he isn't going to let go til inauguration day.
See post 27.
I like both Trump and Palin. They’re the only 2 out there who speak their mind. Neither is a party hack. Both are outsiders to DC intrigue. I’d love to see them run together in whichever order. Each has assets the other doesn’t.
Not that it will ever happen, but that would be such a FUN team to stick it to both the Dems an the GOP establishment.
I'll bet that many more of us here have never watched "The Apprentice" or Americal Idol but I greatly respect and admire what I'm hearing from him now, as well as Sarah Palin.
I like Trump. But Levin’s expose of thing’s he’s said in the past make me very wary. Still I’d rather vote for him than 0.
who said anything about protection money? He said he’s ready to spend a billion of his own money. Obama’s huge edge is instantly wiped out.
Trump is not attacking Palin, and neither is he sending forth armies of back-stabbing minions to do the dirty deed.
Likewise, Palin is not attacking Trump.
Both are well aware that the real enemies are Obama, the establishment Democrats and RINOs, and the communist media.
Trump is knocking the RINOs Romney and Huckabee out of the top spots, and very effectively. He is disarming the media from their planned attacks on Palin.
Palin welcomed Trump into the race, saying "competition is good; the more the merrier." Palin's percentage of primary voters dropped temporarily, and she can recover those lost points in the campaign, but the long-term damage Trump has done to Romney, Huck, and Pawlenty is not recoverable and that is a very good thing.
The GOP primary needs to be between Palin, Trump, and Bachmann. The rest need to go (back) over to the Democrats.
Too early.
Have to admit, there is nothing else like him out there.
Trump/Petreus - wow.
