Sounding increasingly like a candidate, Donald Trump repeatedly told a raucous tea party crowd today he has the qualities needed in the White House and the conservative ideals necessary to seal the Republican nomination should he decide to run.
Trump struck familiar themes and talked about his own business acumen in his speech to hundreds gathered at a park here, where his name festooned signs, buttons and T-shirts of supporters. The real estate mogul even talked about the type of people he'd have serve as diplomats and said he was looking forward to releasing his financial disclosures.
"Most very successful people, the kind of people that we need running our country, don't want to be scrutinized and abused," he said. "This is the kind of person that this country must have right now."
He derided President Barack Obama, calling him the worst to occupy the White House in history. He again questioned whether the president was born in the U.S., even though the fact has been affirmed by officials in Hawaii, where Obama was born. And he maligned China, saying the U.S. should take control of Iraqi oil and described American infrastructure as third world.
Trump ticked through a number of issues seen as bedrocks for conservative candidates, saying he is anti-abortion, against gun control and wants to repeal Obama's health care law. Throughout the speech, he portrayed the U.S. as a nation in decline and himself as its potential savior.

Oh, and Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Alan West and Herman Cain have been doing a fine job going after Obama. They just don't bark as loud as Trump.

No one can seriously think that Donald Trump is a conservative.
Oh, that is such a convincing argument about Trump's conservatism. Not. Saying Obama is a liberal and Mitt and Huck are RINOs says nothing about Trump's core political views.
Guess what? Neither me nor rintense nor any of the other Trump critics support Mitt or the Huckster. And we were protesting Clinton long before you crawled onto FR, and have protested Obama and stood against liberals for a long, long time. You are left to babble strawman posts in lie of being able to make any kind of factual argument that Trump is indeed a conservative.
And we have seen plenty of snot-nosed types come barging along thinking they know everything as they pimp the flavor du jour. And seen them crawling back away when it blew up in their faces.
If you were smart, you would learn from the folks who have been around the block a few times. But your posts call into question whether you are smart enough to do that.
Trump can hit Obama at every turn all he wants. I'll support him. But I will not support him for President.
If I had to vote for Madoff Vandersloot 2012 in order to get rid of obama I would do it.
To me, donating to Harry Reid, Schumer, Wiener, Emanual, all during the last couple of years, is helping the Democrats.
To me, somebody who wanted Kerry over Bush and somebody who wanted Hillary as president is helping the Democrats.
