on the ground now
very jaw dropping on the radar
Finally heard from my friend down there, the cell network was overloaded, couldn’t get through until now. She had a funnel go right overhead but nothing on the ground in close proximity. Superficial damage, everything’s OK. That’s a relief.
The cation on Twitter via Jim Cantore said Sanford.
Stay safe blueyon! We’re getting lots of lightening, thunder and wind here in Powhatan.

Ouch.
Just saw that on TWC....looks real bad.
I was referring to the Earp’s Seafood Market in that post, which has been around a long time. I was also wondering whether the destroyed Lowes was in Raleigh or Sanford - I’ve heard both so far.
If the reports of brick buildings destroyed are correct, then the tornado had to be F3 or worse.
The Raleigh tornado looked to be about 3/4 of a mile wide, a massive storm.
Wow...I was just in Cary yesterday. Prayers for all. Flying back home later last night was pretty rough. Figured something was in the works. Getting lots of rain, lightening and cold in Louisville, but no ‘naders’.
Oops, Thanks. sorry for any confusion. I think the Lowe’s is in Sanford. They had a video shot earlier of Earp’s on Saunders St. with the roofs gone..
I would suspect more Lowe’s may have been hit.. this is like a pack of tornados and high winds wreaking havoc.. and it’s not done yet.. has been tracking the I95 path ..
That’s what I’m mostly hearing, too. The weather channel said it was in Raleigh once, so I was wondering if it was the one off S. Saunder Street, since that’s where most of the damage has been reported.
Welcome to Oklahoma ...
Have you seen the video of Earp’s online or was it just on TV?
I lived in Raleigh about half my life until a few months ago, when I moved out here to Houston. My folks still live southeast of Raleigh in Willow Spring. Seems like they’re alright, though, luckily.
Heh, seriously, TC, this kind of stuff doesn’t happen around here. Weather Channel said the last significant tornado in Wake County was 13 years ago.
A fair bit of damage all over Raleigh, Holly Springs, back to Sanford...houses reported destroyed in Dunn (over in the Smithfield area off I-95) and at least two more tornadoes on the ground, one aiming for Rocky Mount and one aiming for Wilson, Goldsboro and Greenville. This isn’t over yet and they don’t seem to be weakening.

I saw it on their website, they were streaming Live and had a camera that showed that neighborhood.. roof’s gone,, the brick walls look somewhat intact,, this has definitely been a flurry of tornados thru the area, I remember a windy storm or two while I was there in my yout’ and stationed at New River MCAS. Never made it to Raleigh.
Good to hear all are well.
Thanks! looks like a big wreck at Dega too.. lucky they missed any significant damage last night.. these storms have been beating up the belly of the nation for a couple days.
