We give Google grief on occasion around here, but the Chaplin mini-movie on the splash page of the site today is very well done, IMHO.

A little Friday fun, anyway!

Naturally, an avowed Socialist and Atheist like Charles Chaplin would be highly appealing to Google.

Isn’t it a pro-homosexual ad in sympathy with the “Day of Silence” all of our public school children are supposed be doing today?

I didn’t click it - and I use bing for searching because I am tired of Google’s pc garbage.

I have mixed feelings saying this, but I find it interesting that they worked Diversity into the short. I don’t recall Charlie usually starring alongside Asian women, but ... I suppose there is no harm.

google is getting more and more obnoxious. It has morphed in to HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Jeez, I wonder whatt it must be like to go through life with such a narrow-minded, paranoid worldview. You guys really need to get out once in a while.

You don’t think Google is pushing a heavy handed agenda? I can’t help but notice. It’s not ruining my day or anything.

Here we go! You post something on FR and one of the great genuises of the 20th century is reduced to a pinko commie. Personally, I thank you for posting it. I’m not clicking on it ‘cause I’ve seen every Chaplin movie ever made. The humanity of his work - as well as the comic brilliance - speaks for itself and will last long after we are all pushing up the daisies.

That being said, as a friend of mine (95 years old!) who was a tennis partner of Chaplin opined: “Charlie join the Communist party? He was too cheap!”

But, but, but...there might be gays and atheists out there!

This whole “day of silence” thing is a blatant grab at our youth.

Everywhere they go today, school particularly, they are being told to be quiet in order to support anal sex.

They are being desensitized in one of the most open and outrageous movements I have ever known.

I don’t know that Chaplin would like to be part of a campaign to homosexualize our youth.

I know why it’s being done. Homosexuals are very interested in minors. It’s a huge part of their culture - pederasty.

To act as thought I am somehow a prude for objecting to this is entirely misplaced. Are your kids wearing duct tape over their mouths at school today to encourage anal sex, and those who would like to have it with them? I hope not.

They made a god out of this jerk, and I don’t even think he was funny.

I can’t stand the sight of him or his crappy movies.

Chaplin with gays??? From what I understand he preferred yodeling up the canyon over puffing on white owls ...

Chaplin was a comic genius. And yes, I much prefer his work to some of the toilet-mouthed stuff that passes for humor these days.

The responses are interesting; not so much in what they say about Chaplin, as to what they say about themselves.

P.S. I’ll be working in my garden and feeding my cattle the rest of the day, so any flames will burn out harmlessly before I see them.

Crappy movies? I guess you don’t tune into TCM too much. Yet again, the philistines at FR rule the day.

The Chaplin thing has nothing to do with the day of silence. 2 different events, coinciding on the same day. There’s nothing in the clip about gays or bullying or symbolic silence or any of that. That’s all coming from YOU and your obsession.

I can’t watch this video - my computer will freeze up. Do you know if we’re talking about some faked film of Chaplin supporting gay rights? If so, I’m gonna be really p*ssed off. Hope the Chaplin estate gets after them.
