Trump plans tea-party debut in Florida ['My values are very similar. They're hard-working people']
The Palm Beach Post ^ | April 12, 2011 | GEORGE BENNETT

Politicians often claim they don't pay much attention to polls, especially ones taken several months before the first voters head to caucuses and primaries.

Then there's Donald Trump.

Less than two hours after CNN released a poll Tuesday showing Trump tied for the lead among potential 2012 Republican presidential candidates, the billionaire developer and reality TV star wanted to make sure a reporter interviewing him had seen it.

Trump also directed an employee to e-mail the reporter fresh ratings numbers showing that the latest episode of his Celebrity Apprentice show on NBC had clobbered CSI: NY on Sunday night.

And Trump reminded his interviewer that a recent Wall Street Journal poll showed him as the top presidential pick among tea party voters.

"I wasn't that surprised," Trump said of the tea party poll. "Because my values are very similar. They're hard-working people. They're people that don't like to be taken advantage of by other countries."

Just remember folks, the high-level Democrats who have been working diligently for years working to destroy this free republic have virtually all been funded by Donald Trump. And that’s right up to the present.

I’m as cynical about the Republican Party as any conservative in America, but really, are they really this unprincipled and stupid?

I go back and forth thinking the same thing. One thing that sometimes makes me think he is on the level is how he isn’t just hitting Obama on the eligibility issue but other stuff too. Would a democrat plant go around major mainstream news outlets telling his millions of fans that Obama is a terrible prresident? Don’t ge me wrong, something may be fishy with his candidacy, just don’t know.

The Reform Party is dead. And it deserved to die, because it was unprincipled.

But we're alive and kicking. And we're principled.

I can’t help but wonder if a Trump is a Democrat plant.

Please tell me what Trump has said or done to make you think that? I am trying to learn all I can about Trump. Have listened to all his interviews and so far I like what he has said.

Trump has always admitted that he’s a liberal and he said he was considering running as an independent but all of a sudden we’re listening to him solely because of the birth certificate issue?

There is something seriously wrong with this picture.

To Florida Tea Partiers: Make sure to pack a grain of salt with you, when you go to hear Trump speak.

I will, but have to say, everything I have heard him say so far I liked. Remains to be seen if he is one who says what he means and means what he says.

IMO, Mr. Trump is a Trojan horse. Be vigilant and don’t fall for everything.

My thoughts, too. He supported Hitlery and Jean Fraud Kerry in the past and we're supposed to believe he's suddenly "seen the light" and become a Pubbie?

I have strong doubts.

The Dems can't put anyone else on their ticket against Obama. This is the only way to put another Dem into the WH. I, for one, am not falling for it.

Perot didn't do anything for Clinton. His position was anti-Clinton and Pro-American the same way Trump is clearly anti-Obama and pro-America. The "trump is a democrat plant because he isn't Sarah Palin Argument" is completely spurious.

When Perot did this for Clinton, it took the good simple folks in the Perot Party several years to figure out they had been dupes.

I think you have it wrong. The good simple folks that refused to listen to Perot were the ones that were duped. Many of them still haven't figured it out.

Wonder what his real payday for this stunt is?

uh, being the POTUS maybe. Believe it or not, that's payday enough for pretty much anybody. If I had a billion dollars, massive name recognition, and a strong chance of winning, I'd take the gamble, wouldn't you?

Mitt Romney has better conservative credentials than Donald Trump.

Here are some Trump quotes posted earlier today:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2704049/posts

With Donald Trump topping the latest
CNN/OpEdRe Poll, a few choice quotes...
_________________________________________________________________________________

“I hate what’s happening to the country”

“The US border with Mexico is a joke... it should be militarized so that no illegal immigrants can come in. Moreover, doing so would stop the burgeoning US-Mexico trade in illegal drugs”

“(Pakistan) knows where Bin Laden is... cut off all aid until they hand him over”

“I am opposed to gay marriage... causes me trouble in New York, but I just don’t feel right about it”.

“Well, there is a Muslim problem... all you have to do is turn on your TV... Unfortunately, at this point in time, there is a Muslim problem in the world... you know it and I know it.”

“I didn’t notice Swedish people knocking down the World Trade Center.”

“That (GZM) was so insensitive- keep in mind, that’s my territory -Manhattan real estate- and when they announced the Mosque in that location- I couldn’t believe it.”

“There’s something out there... that brings a level of hostility that I’ve never seen in any religion. You can say what you want about the Koran.... there’s something there, there is tremendous hatred... and tremendous hatred of us. I look at Iraq... we spent all this money and all those lives- they hate us! These people hate us, they can’t get rid of us fast enough.”

“(Obama) may have a birth certificate... but maybe there’s something on there, maybe he’s a Muslim...”

“I would tell China that you’re either going to shape up, or I’m going to tax you at 25% (tariffs) for all the products you send into this country.... I’m all for free trade, but it’s gotta be fair trade”

“What’s protectionism? They’re making $300B! I want some protection, if that’s the case... The fact is that China has taken advantage of our leaders for long time, but they’re having a field day with Obama... a total field day.”

“This year they’re going to make $300B on us alone- but guess what: that’s either going to equalize, or
WE DON’T NEED CHINA.”

“Whether or not we should have been in Iraq, that’s one question- but we’re there. Iran will take over Iraq the day we leave... Iran is already talking to those people...”

“We will make a fortune... There are 15 trillion dollars worth of oil in Iraq... we are not going to hand that oil to Iran.”

“As soon as we leave Iraq, Iran is going to go and take over Iraq and take over those huge oil fields the oil -2nd largest to Saudi Arabia. That would never happen -believe me- if it were up to me.”

“Nobody knows who the (Benghazi) rebels are... I hear they’re tied to Iran, I hear they’re tied to Al Qaida. I’d have to find out who the rebels are first, but I’ll tell you what: I’m only interested in Libya if we take the oil. If we don’t take the oil, I have no interest in Libya.”

“Unlike our leaders, the Chinese leaders are intelligent... of course they’re interested in the (Libyan) oil. We’re not interested in the oil because we don’t have the right leadership.”

“We’re not respected, we’re going down. China is taking things over -they’re taking our jobs, they’re taking our money. Then after they take our money, they’re loaning it back to us and we pay interest. They’re manipulating their currency, they make it very hard for our companies to compete”

“This country has never been so low- we’ve never been at a low point like we are now.”

Trump has always admitted that he’s a liberal

Please tell me where you heard him say he was a liberal. I have not heard that.

and he said he was considering running as an independent

What I heard him say is the ONLY way he would run as an Independent is if he KNEW he would win. That splitting the ticket allowing Obama to win would be very troubling to him.

but all of a sudden we’re listening to him solely because of the birth certificate issue?

Not me! I am not listening to him just because he brought up the BC issue. However, I am glad he did. It is about time the questions were answered and the issue put to rest. I love Donald Trump's stand on the middle east, free/fair trade, his view on how our military should be given the best weapons known to man, how any wars under his command would be done by air with no feet on the ground to save lives. I will be looking forward to hearing more from him on other issues as time goes on.
