PHOENIX - The Arizona Senate has approved a revised bill requiring presidential candidates to prove they are U.S. citizens eligible to run for the office.
The bill approved Wednesday gives candidates additional ways to prove they meet the constitutional requirements to be president.
It was prompted by the ongoing claim by some that there is no proof President Barack Obama was born in the United States and is therefore ineligible to be president.
Democrats argued the bill exceeds the state's authority and say state officials are not fully qualified to determine the validity of a candidate's documents.
Republicans argue the U.S. Constitution gives state legislatures the right to determine how federal elections are conducted.
The bill now goes to the House for a final vote.
awoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....
Palin: I can see the WH from Arizona.
The CBS article was bitching about it too.
Now if AZ becomes the “laughingstock of the nation” (CBS words)....why are the MSM throwing a hissy fit about it?
The Little League Baseball coach is qualified. And maybe the folks at the DMV.
cBS who? Catty Couric who?
Waaaaaaaaaah!
Doesn’t mention Natural Born citizenship, just citizenship.
Sorry, Section 5 doesn’t mention proving Natural Born citizenship.
It’s good news for people who want to discriminate against Christians.
A strike everything amendment and remove parental qualifications for office amendment adopted? Isn’t that a bad thing?
In Florida we already know that the leftist rags that pass as news here are going to call this election close right up to the last day.
Fact is, this is going to be a knockout.
Obama will not even come close to coming close here.
A way to backdoor challenge an illegal presidential candidate on the NBC issue. The second step in the process to force the issue upon the courts. And...
You couple this clause 8 with the document Obama have to sign his John Hancock to for 2012.
Bam! Obama is in big trouble in AZ.
I'm smarter than the average bear ;-)
Yes, lets leave it to the people who really are qualified to make this determination. Worked real well...
You sure? He has not yet.
Now for the final push to get it enacted.
One wonderful knock-on effect of having any state pass such a confirmation of eligibility with respect to the natural born citizenship criterion is the "copycat" effect.
State legislatures are notorious for sometimes almost blindly copying other states' legislation. I hope that copycat effect occurs with this important law, but even if it does not, passage of this Arizona law will force the Kenyan usurper into some very difficult decisions.
See post 30.
*sigh*
Unless this law says he has to provide a long form Birth Certificate, it is useless.
ii. the names of the hospital and the attending physician, and
iii. signatures of any witnesses in attendance if applicable.
These requirements are not on Obama's "Certification" that appeared on the internet.

Don't you think that it would raise the eyebrows of more than a few people if he were to skip filing in the one state that requires proof of natural born citizenship? I can think of a handful of Congressman I know personally who right now won't touch this topic, but would take a second look at the issue if something that earth-shattering were to occur.
But if Obama can’t meet the requirements, then other states will decide that he may not meet the requirements and DEMAND that their legislators FULLY vet Obastard.
