UTC is an acronym for Univeral Time Coordinated. You can think of it as GMT with leap seconds. It’s the international reference time. It’s always the same time UTC all over the planet.
Japan doesn’t observe Daylight Saving Time, so the local time there (JST in English) is always 9 hours ahead of UTC. So currently, local time in Japan is 13 hours ahead of US Eastern Daylight Time.

I can’t speak for all Californians, but I’d be willing to take a few of these if only it would help. You’ve had quite enough for now.

Appears that it is about 50 miles East South East of Chiba City... Still showing 6.4 at the moment.

I wouldn’t be too worried if I were you. These quakes are scaring off teachers right and left.
Two weeks ago I helped pack out an Irish gal with more than 15 years here. She just couldn’t cope anymore. Hadn’t slept more than an hour at a time since March 11.
Things will be picking up soon.

I think it was you that mentioned about being hyper sensitive to the quakes last night... I know exactly what you mean.. I have a 1.5 liter bottle of water that I keep an eye on... it seems like every 5 minutes, or so, I feel something.. look at the bottle.. and it tells me otherwise ;)
Maybe I should try your hanger method.. or both even ;)

It’s just a big thick plastic hanger on an hook for a plant holder, but since it’s too heavy for the wind to push around, it’s perfect for checking to see if anything else is moving.
Any experience with technical writing?

...Its the international reference time. Its always the same time UTC all over the planet. The Soviets used a different time system so it would be harder for us to convert during wartime when things, especially nukes, were moving fast.

Souda ne...
We’ve joked about earthquakes before. How they come, go, and vanish from memory so fast...
I don’t know about you, but I find it a lot harder to drop back into sleep after I get jolted awake than I used to.
