Donald Trump fires back after White House aide declares that he has 'zero chance' to be President

The White House stopped just short of dismissing Donald Trump as a clown Sunday - calling him a "sideshow" act with "zero chance" of becoming president.

Trump countered that he represents Obama's biggest nightmare in the 2012 race and that the White house is running scared.

"I know for a fact that I am the only candidate they are concerned with," Trump told The Daily News. "They are very concerned because I am challenging him as to whether or not he was born in this country where there is a real doubt."

"He should focus on properly dealing with the Chinese, the Saudis and all of the other nations that are ripping off the United States instead of making up quotes about Donald Trump," the "Apprentice" host blustered on. "Barack Obama has done a terrible job as president."

While Trump is not viewed as having a real chance at winning the presidency, experts say his remarks cut to the core of what irks the White House the most, which explains the hostility behind Plouffe's diss.

"There is no issue that irritates the White House more than the birther issue," said Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia's Center for Politics.

"They view it as a symbol for those who refuse to acknowledge Obama as a legitimate president," he said. "The fact that someone as prominent as Trump is bringing this up is a source of real frustration."

Sabato predicted that despite the noise Trump is making, he would soon fade away.

You misunderstand the "concern" that the Democrats have with Sarah Palin. The Democrats focus on Sarah Palin for exactly the same reason that Republicans focus on Nancy Pelosi:

Both Pelosi and Palin have highly toxic polls numbers among the great majority of voters. Therefore, both sides try to discredit the other party by painting it as "The Party of (Nancy Pelosi/ Sarah Palin)".

Well said. Thank you for a good talking point.

I am glad you got the chance to put up your polls and graphics, they are very good I do not blieve in polls no matter who put them up.. That said I would never compare Sarah Palin to the Botox queen..Lots of difference there the botox queen thinks she is God but she found out she had nothing in common with God she got her butt handed to her this last election.. No conservative I know is afraid of Nancy Pelosi..we just hate her guts and hope the very worse for her in the years to come..I hope she get payed back for all the evil she has done to the people of this country..

Um, you asserted Trump “cannot keep the oath to protect and defend the Constitution.” Care to back up your scurrilous accusation?

I'll mention just one: the 2nd Amendment. Trump , two of the most anti-gun politicians in Washington. Trump claims that he is against gun control, but why throw in with these oathbreakers then?

I conclude Trump does not really support the 2nd Amendment, and therefore cannot in good conscience support and defend the whole Constitution.

Um, you asserted Trump “cannot keep the oath to protect and defend the Constitution.” Care to back up your scurrilous accusation?

I'll mention just one: the 2nd Amendment. Trump has given money to Charlie Rangel and Frank "The Lout" Lautenberg, two of the most anti-gun politicians in Washington. Trump claims that he is against gun control, but why throw in with these oathbreakers then?

I conclude Trump does not really support the 2nd Amendment, and therefore cannot in good conscience support and defend the whole Constitution.

Ah, I thought, given your chosen handle, that you might offer more than just your opinion of how Trumps actions trend—in your opinion—to prove he cannot or will not do that which you accuse. You’re entitled to your opinion, but that’s all you’ve offered and there will be a million opinions being exploited by those who want to win at all cost, including doing violence to the truth in order to manipulate others.
