The United States is beset by violence, racism and torture and has no authority to condemn other governments' human rights problems, China said on Sunday, countering U.S. criticism of Beijing's crackdown.(snip)Chinese artist Ai Weiwei is the most prominent of the activists to be detained by police or held in secretive custody in the latest crackdown. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Friday she was "deeply concerned" about it, and cited "negative trends" including Ai's detention.

China is a bad place, but they are right about this. America started pushing "human rights" in other countries in the 1970s under Carter. This effort has not served us well.

If we want a country to change, we should invade them, put boots on the ground, and kill thousands of people. If we don't want to take it that far [and I think that we should not], then maybe we should just shut up, get our own house in order and stop nagging sovereign nations.

Unfortunately, thanks to Obama we have lost credibility in this field.

Everybody knows the war in Libya has nothing to do with human rights as Obama (The US) has claimed. It's all about oil.

When you are going around the world claiming to be fighting for human rights and installing Al Qaeda governments in place of secular dictatorships in oil rich nations and call it humanitarian while at the same time fighting against Al Qaeda in other nations suspicions arise and credibility loss.

You are correct about China and its human rights history.

China, of course, has no standing at all on any moral issues. On the other hand in our next war with these people let’s not take any prisoners.

The Bible always provides words of wisdom:

Proverbs 26:17 says, “Like one who takes a dog by the ears is he who passes by and meddles with strife not belonging to him.”

Well ms hill, when you start killing people for no other reason than to steal their oil, you sort of lose the moral high ground argument. Live with it cow.

I’m perfectly willing to quit the Human Rights board and the rest of the UN and let China have the whole thing.

"Proverbs 26:17 says, “Like one who takes a dog by the ears is he who passes by and meddles with strife not belonging to him.”

That's a terrific verse. Particularly appropriate in regards to the US Government's penchant for involving itself in other nations' problems under the guise of "human rights."

Moral ppl are have obligation to “get involved” when they see someone obviously doing something wrong. With words is the least someone can do, to educate them

What sort of moral person would one person be, if one turn a blind eye and say its none of my business

Hmmm, sounds like China and Obama are in complete agreement in their views about America.

“The United States is beset by violence, racism and torture and has no authority to condemn other governments’ human rights problems, China said on Sunday,”

By agreeing with what Dear Leader has said, it’s not unreasonable for the Chinese to demand that Obama STFU. Another example of the Mindless One’s blathering without considering the ramifications.
