John Boehner has just given away the Republican victory of 2010 at the bargaining table. Like the proverbial Uncle Sam who always wins the war but loses the peace, he has unilaterally disarmed the Republican Party by showing that he will not shut down the government and will, instead, willingly give way on even the most modest of cuts in order to avoid it. He now has no arrows left in his quiver.
Having failed to stand firm for just $61 billion in cuts in a budget of $3.7 trillion, how can we expect him to stand firm over the debt limit extension or the 2012 budget? We cant. The excellent budget proposals of Paul Ryan are no more than a pipe dream now. Boehner has He sold us out now and hell sell us out again.
It is the duty of every Republican Congressman to vote no on this terrible deal. It violates our campaign promises to the American people. We promised $100 billion of cuts and we delivered $38 billion ($62 billion on a twelve month basis). In the Republican Houses first real test out of the box it has broken the promise over which it was elected. Only in Meat Loafs music is two out of three not bad.
This concession makes it clear that:
* Obamacare will not be defunded. * The EPA will not be blocked from regulating carbon. * The NLRB will not be stopped from forcing an end to secret ballots in union contests. * Medicaid will not be block granted and turned over to the states. * Welfare spending will not be cut nor work requirements imposed. * The FCC will not be stopped from regulating talk radio.
In short, we have accomplished nothing by our hard work in 2010.
Except we have learned a lesson.
And the lesson is this: We need to purify our party and purge it of the likes of John Boehner and all those Congressmen who vote for the budget sellout. The Tea Party must take the lead in this purifying fire. We must not let the RINOs win!
DickMorris.com will post prominently (and permanently) the names of all GOP freshmen who vote for this rotten deal. It will be in a column headed: THESE ARE THE SELLOUTS. Check it out and back their primary opponents!
Imagine you see a huge fight between 2 people —they’re screaming back and forth about a restaurant choice. There’s a huge scene —they can’t decide 2 eat at the expensive restaurant, or the cheap one. It goes on and on, quite elaborately.
Then you hear that one guy wanted to spend $100 on the meal, while the “cheapskate” insisted on spending “only” $99.
How much more attention would you pay to such a conflict? Cuz that’s what we were just expected 2 care about.
All of that was regarding a money amount spent by the Feds for 1/2 of ONE day.
The niche of the RePUBEican Party is to supply a perception of genuine debate. But there is NOT one of those.
DUMP THE ‘PUBES —they do not care about us.
Is Dick Morris a Republican now?
I’m afraid you are right, little man.
And our country hasn't altered it's 100 MPH course directly to "financial cliff".
No abortion money for DC...
WINNING
I absolutely cannot wait to NOT vote for Romney...!
The very thought makes me feel as I did when approaching Disneyland at age 6.
Losing is the culture - it doesn't seem to be changing. I hope this gives more recruiting power to the Tea Party.
The republican leadership din’t cave or sell out. This is here Morris is wrong, and here’s why, the republican leadership are also socialists, and so they go along with their fellow travlers.
It is an ugly feeling when you wake up in the morning, and realize that the most dangerous and damaging enemy you have IS YOUR OWN GOVERNMENT.
Hunh. He must have seen my post on the Horowitzblog thread.
Wasn’t this guy known for “triangulation” just a few years ago....now each battle must be a complete, decisive victory.
You can win the battles and lose the war. Paul Ryan’s budget is the WAR we ultimately want to win. Shutting down Govt...with the media on the other side, the republicans would be seen as narrow, inflexible...the independents would recoil and we would have to start from scratch to win the broader support.
Boehner did the right thing here and he held out to the last minute.
Even the great Scott Walker’s so-called union reform left many rights in tact for negotiation...same with Kasich in Ohio.
We are committing national suicide.
George Bush sucked with the deficits, but Obama’s budget deficits on average are 3 times as large and $500 billion more than the last Bush budget.
We should be cutting At LEAST a trillion a year—and we would still be in the red. $36 billion is nothing.
It makes me sick that I witnessing up close and personal the destruction of the United States.
Defunding Planned Parenthood and NPR are small potatoes compared to the cutting that really needs to be done. That and much more needs to chopped.
I have. They are collaborating with Obama. They will have to get rid of the RINOS before I back em again.
>>...maybe the best thing is to just go broke and start over!!!!!!!
That is the essence of the Cloward-Piven strategy. The Republicrats are almost to the end-game on that. Once they “bipartisan compromise” us into full Obamacare and a carbon taxation scheme, no working American will be able to survive without government assistance and then they’ll own us as bondservants.
Where’s that pro wrestling pic?
No abortion money for DC...
WINNING
yeah we won no abortion money for DC, in 18 years how many more little welfare voting rats will be in DC? IMO no funding for welfare is great but it should go hand in hand with no welfare. I shouldnt be paying for either
They will nominate Romney or Jeb Bush. Obama will win. What a scam.
