Mayor Tom Menino issued an executive order to ban the sale of sugary drinks on Boston city property on Thursday.
I want to make this a healthier choice, the easier choice in peoples daily lives, whether its the schools, the work sites or other places in the community, Menino said.
The mayors office, along with the Boston Public Health Commission, said Menino is issuing this order because of the link between sugary drinks and rising obesity rates and health care costs.

Nanny State PING!
I can attest to what you’re saying. My Mom is a diabetic, but one time, her blood sugar crashed to around 25. If I hadn’t called the ambulance, she might have gone into a coma or died.
Gawd, she looks horrible. That shoore is what I want to wake up to every morning!
In a way I’m glad these health Nazis are getting a taste of their own medicine. Wheee! Banning smoking in bars, yippee. We warned people what would happen. Someday they will get around to something you DO like.
It couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of commies. Now take away fats, salt and alcohol from them.
It can also happen fast for me and I do go as low as your Mom has.Unfortuantely I can still be walking around though but be acting a little off. These days I wear a 24 BG monitor that has an alarm if it starts to drop too fast so I do get a few mintues warning before things get too bad but not everyone is as lucky as I am and have decent insurance that covers the very expensive supplies.First one will have a seizure then just pass out but if left too long the organs can begin to fail and once the brain has nothing to feed it you have a stroke.
He’s an ass———ever hear him speak?
Unbelievable.
>>Nothing quite like the tyrant that knows whats best for you...
The quote you are looking for is one of those on my FR profile page. The smug wench pictured is one of those omnipotent moral busybodies:
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber barons cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. CS Lewis
Thanks for the ping!
City politicians are some of the worst politicians on the entire planet Earth, and this isn’t an opinion!
He's surrounded himself with toads like Ms Ferrer so that comparatively he doesn'tlook that bad,
Unfortunately for Tom every time he opens his moutn a stream of malaprops tumbles out.
It seems that every screwball idea Bloomberg has is parroted by Mumbles crew
The recent record of the Red Sox makes me believe that The Fates having already cursed us with nonsense like this ban have ramped up their wrath with Boston for having relected this over-the-hill turd.
He doesn' need no fat kids in trouble here. Ya Mayamomo say tallk nice kid have idea that areproductively counta to what he does fun poina view good for himdem.
Don’t “frost his nose”, or else, he might “attack yhews wit portapotties”.
