Donald Trump may be talking a game the Tea Party activists embarce, such as consistently questioning President Obamas American birth of late, but an analysis of his political donations since 1989 show a distinct support of the Deomcratic Party that may not go over well should Trump be serious about running for the Republican Party nomination for President.
<--snip-->
Before 2010, when we could infer he was less serious about running for the Republican nomination, 59% of his political donations were to Democrats.

The so-called polls that show him being a Tea Party favorite are more than suspect - they are complete BS. I wouldn’t buy that story for a quarter if I got 24 cents change!
“Don’t pay attention to Donald Trump and his birth certificate concerns! He’s crazy! He’s bad! He pals around with the Left and the Political Establishment! You know you can’t trust those people!” [/rant from the Left and the Political Establishment]
There seems to be a sudden flurry of articles today portraying Trump as a left-leaning liberal. They all seem designed to cause Tea Party members to have second thoughts about Trump.
IMHO, Trump’s birth certificate investigation is getting some people nervous (in both parties). They tried laughing at him and that didn’t work. It seems the next tactic is to paint him as a liberal.
I’m not a Trump supporter, but I give him credit for being willing to go where others fear to tread.
In New York, if you don’t give money to the democrats and the unions, you don’t do business.
Then he is probably the best candidate to beat Obama. He would garner all the independent voters and many democrats. However, if the republicans win the Senate in addition to keeping the House, the Tea Party agenda will probably be successful, because Trump will have to go along with it to stay in office. Go ahead—I’m wearing my flame-retardant suit.
He's trying to expose Barry, and pretending to run for President gives him the platform he needs to give his opinions on Barry's eligibility a national forum.
An Orly Taitz can't do that.
A Donald Trump can.
No flame from me...
For someone like Trump, my guess is political donations are more like a business expense rather than an expression of political ideology.
I could post a half dozen Trump quotes here as if they were my own opinion, and I’d get the zot within an hour. Trump is a conservative like I’m a ballerina.
I think they call it protection money.
He’s not my choice, but I’d vote for any republican who can beat Obama in 2012.
Trump is Manchurian Candidate #2. You know who #1 was.
We need a “Trump Truth File” asap.
I'll withhold my opinion on Trump until I see more. Just my opinion.
I see little reason to trust him, though.
It’s called taking care of business. I won’t hold it against him; mind you, I do want him to come out and emphatically confirm his policy on the primary conservative issues. I have a pretty good idea of where he stands but I want I want him to look us in the eyes and make promises about the things that are important to us. His willingness to take on the birth certificate issue speaks volumes about who he is IMO. It’s early yet though. The debates are coming. Anything can happen.
