Amid the threat of a looming government shutdown, House Speaker John Boehner is getting emotional again.
Per ABC News's Jon Karl, the Republican leader, who is known for his tears, was updating the House GOP caucus this morning on the ongoing budget stand-off when his emotions got the best of him. As he was thanking fellow Republicans for sticking with him amid the tense negotiations, the GOP lawmakers rose to give him a standing ovation, prompting Boehner to weep.
"Yes," a person at the private meeting tells ABC. "He cried, but only briefly."

Uh, yes he can. He's going through days of grueling negotiations enduring much more pressure than most men ever could.
So he gets weepy at a standing ovation of appreciation. Big deal.
He gives a good impression on TV, I am giving him a chance.
I know the difference very well.
And whiners like you definitely fall into the former category.
It sure beats the nausea of seeing the Democrats gloat.
Agree.....damn Boehner grow a pair and kick some ass while ya have the gavel !
History will not be kind to a wuss !
that pussy should resign now and not wait for the next election!
He’s a discrace to the human race!
You’re comparing Bush’s reaction to the troops that he sent to fight a war to Boehner tearing up when his fellow DC pols give him a cheer?
Are you related to Boehner?
Jesus, I am a girl and I don’t even come close to crying as much as he does. Put on your “big girl panties” and dry it up, Boner!
Did not mean to skip over your response. The story that the content conveys is still clear. The Speaker seems to crater on emotion.
Are you John Boehner's mother?
Paul Ryan has been taking all the heat on this issue, and he hasn't cried about it or worn a pink tie.
I don’t care if he cries — so long as he STANDS. If his knees give, then he GOES. “Out da door or thru da window...” as the old saying goes. The Dems WANT this shutdown. The REPUBLICANS better stand FIRM. THE FUTURE DEMANDS IT.
‘I guess this means that womyn, they cry frequently, should never hold elective office since theyre overly emotional.
False again. Ryan's is not the point-man in CR negotiations.
You've got your budgets mixed up.
The time for continuing resolutions has passed. We are 6 months behind in passing a budget. If Boehner was a real leader they would have had a vote on Ryan's budget yesterday. But Boehner is shedding tears over another opportunity to punt the ball down the field..... again and again.
Boehner is a sissy.
So what, if he stands fast?
And the headline suggests that he teared up at the meeting with Obama and Reid -- not at the caucus, when he would be perfectly justified in feeling gratified by his support.
So far as I'm concerned, Boehner can shed all the tears he wants -- if he is successful.
One would think most FReepers would feel the same...
Explain your context, and where I have misinterpreted such. My stance is clear: the Speaker of the House of Representatives exhibits emotional swings when there is pressure. This man is second in line behind the VP to lead this country. We the people should not be derided and castigated for being curious about the public exhibition of questionable behavior. You have a right to explain such aberrations away, and others have a right to inquire. Tell me about my side.
Just showing that real men DO cry when shown appreciation for the stresses they carry.
Yes, Iraq was a war. However, make no mistake in thinking that these budget debates don't signify a HUGE fight. Ensuring our economic freedom going forward is a major task. Resonsibility for keeping us from tipping toward economic servitude is a huge load which Boehner carries and which the GOP House apparently appreciates.
I don't think it a travesty for Boehner to shed a few tears for the show of appreciation unlike so many of the misguided on FR.
Read the story. Of course the headline "suggests" this...they know there are plenty of people out there like you who will swallow their lie.
The facts in the article are different than the headline "suggests".
So then are you admitting you were wrong in saying that Ryan has been taking the heat for them...or not?
LOL...you sure are mixed up.
If Boehner was a real leader they would have had a vote on Ryan's budget yesterday.
Wrong again, Junior. The budget process entails months of hearings as it should be and in which Ryan will shine. This gives opportunity to have the public hear all the fallacious arguments the Dems put up so support can be built for passage.
You just really don't know how things work, do you?
