ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A Florida teenager has claimed his baggy pants saved him from an alligator attack.

Kendrick Williams said he was walking home from work Tuesday night and cut through an apartment complex with a large pond when he encountered the alligator.

“I heard the hiss and then looked down, and I saw the alligator on the ground,” Williams said.

The alligator took a bite out of the teen's pants.

Williams said he thought the alligator was between 6 and 7 feet long. Another witness told police it was 10 feet long.

Williams' mother said she was thankful her son wasn't hurt and was thankful he likes to wear baggy pants.

I thought the name Kendrick Williams sounded familiar. Any relation to this 2008 story?

Baggy pants not only look super cool, but they save lives as well? I guess I need to head to my nearest ghetto haberdashery for a pair.

Awesome.

"Another witness told police it was 10 feet long."

Police: Did you try to warn Mr. Williams of the 10 foot alligator?

Witness: No, I just decided to sit back with my beer and watch.

Maybe that’s why Sharpei dogs have wrinkly skin. It’s like gangsta wear for dogs! LOL!

That Kendrick (L.) Williams was 32 years old. I see where he was arrested, but don’t know what the outcome of the case was.

I guess this means the kid had to walk home in his boxer shorts. Oh, well, better than being gator food.

Ever see the safety signs that warn against wearing baggy or loose clothing around machinery? If it hadn’t been for the baggy pants, the gator might have missed entirely.

The one time when keepin’ it real paid off. Then again, maybe the gator was trying to learn the young man that you still lookin’ like a fool wif yo pants on da ground.

Man, those Floridians are tough. Most apartment complexes have a koi pond, but no, they’ve got alligators in their ponds. No wonder they don’t have fountains, the gators are eating the fountain installers.
