White House Promises Veto of Anti-E.P.A. Bill
NYT ^ | 4/5/2011 | JOHN M. BRODER

In case there was any doubt, the White House on Tuesday issued a formal statement opposing a bill now before the House that would bar the Environmental Protection Agency from regulating greenhouse gases for the purpose of combating climate change.

The bill, known as the Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011, could come up for a vote as early as Wednesday and is almost certain to pass when it does. It has virtually unanimous support among the Republican majority and will probably draw votes from a few Democrats from coal and oil producing states.

The measure, sponsored by Representatives Fred Upton, Republican of Michigan, and Ed Whitfield, Republican of Kentucky, would overturn the E.P.A.’s finding that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases pose a danger to human health and the environment. That finding, based on a broad scientific consensus, is the basis for pending regulation of carbon emissions from vehicles and large stationary sources like power plants, factories and refineries.

Republicans assert the new rules are a hidden energy tax that will significantly raise production costs and drive jobs offshore.

Administration officials have spoken out against the bill in speeches and congressional testimony, but President Obama had not formally threatened to veto it. On Tuesday, the White House issued a strongly worded statement that erases any doubt.

Sounds to me like the “WHITE HOUSE” is planning on shutting down the Government. And the Republicans are to blame? Obozo has no intention of reaching across the aisle - that is only expected of Republicans. To a RAT it is “MY WAY OR THE HIGH WAY”. It is only the GOP that has to negotiate. The Republicans are not allowed to say “WE WON”.

“Obama shuts down the Government because it wants more regulations!”

Yep.

The same buffoon who wrote an op-Ed in the WSJ a few months ago, about how he supposedly wanted to “reduce” regulations in order to “help” business growth.

Agree.

I think if the GOP is still going to attempt to deal with these hostage-takers, they should put a substantial price tag on the EPA rider because of the damage it’s going to do to the economy, and the lack of public support for cap and tax, especially during this feeble “recovery”. Demand that it stays in, or else the Dems need to cough up 30 Billion more in cuts- something like that.

The Republicans in Congress need to go for the jugular, and begin demanding the abolition of every alphabet agency not authorized by the US Constitution.

Not only do these agencies have no authority to regulate our air, water, guns, food, education, drugs, energy, etc., there is no constitutional authority for them to even exist.

I want Obamacare DEFUNDED more than I care about the measly 21B, 32B, 61B, or 100B in cuts. They are all drops in an ocean of debt (nothing compared to the almost $4TRILLION of this year).

I’m with you.

(I can’t say the leadership necessarily is, though...)

“That finding, based on a broad scientific consensus...”

AND THAT is where the story falls apart, every time.

I have been worried about toxic emissions. I can hardly sleep.

Remember back when the EPA FORCED businesses and home sellers to have RADON inspections ???? RADON was going to kill everyone if not stopped?

A lot of money was made on that one.

Have you even heard the word RADON mentioned in the past 10 years?

Exactly. A veto is no problem.

The day he vetoes it the House shuts down all funding for EPA.

That;s fighting, that what I want. People who will fight.

Send this Alledged President a message. a strong one.

Hussein promised he would be ready to “rule from day one.”

However, regularly p!ssing on the people's House is no way to get reelected.

House conservatives apparently did not get the memo that they were to serve as Obama butt boys.
