Police arrest two men after fight at Chuck E. Cheese in Natick

NATICK —
Two men pleaded not guilty today in Framingham District Court after Natick Police said they started a fight during a child's birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese on Saturday.
Donald Jean Estime, 32, of Brockton, and Ezekiel L. Tavares, 36, of East Boston, were both arrested Saturday at 5:19 p.m. and charged with assault and battery and disturbing the peace.
According to a police report, the pair were at Estime's son's birthday party and appeared to have been drinking. Estime got into an argument with his son's mother's cousin because Estime was harassing that man's daughter who was playing air hockey.
During the argument, Estime shoved both the man and a Chuck E. Cheese employee, while Tavares punched the man, police said.
In court today, Judge Douglas Stoddart expressed surprise about the assault.
"Isn't Chuck E. Cheese a fight-free zone?'' he said.
Stoddart released both men without bail and ordered them back in court on May 17 for a pretrial conference.

When a Ground Round went out of business in a nearby town, my wife and I played with the idea of opening a Chuck E Cheese, as the closest in existance is 20 miles away.
Before putting too much effort into it, we decided to pay a visit to the nearest Chuck E Cheese to see if it was still the place we recalled from our youths.
It took less than a minute to form our decision. We sure dodged that bullet.

I haven’t set foot in a Chuck E. Cheese in at least 25 years or longer. Of course, in those days, there were fewer types of “families” we see today that make going to such franchises a highly questionable practice.

I can’t honestly say I’ve ever been in one.
There’s one a couple doors down from a Chinese buffet place we go to and luckily, there haven’t been any riots (that we’ve seen anyway).
