Shes an above-average fundraiser (see the graph towards the bottom of the page here), an assiduously on-message interviewee, a rep from a crucial swing state, and of course a woman, which may help Democrats marginally with a key demographic. Oh, and shes also a heroine to Planned Parenthood, natch.
Congrats, Debbie. Now for your first lesson on messaging. Repeat after me: Republicans want to kill grandma.
She would be the first woman to serve as the permanent head of the committee in a presidential election year, party officials said. At least two women have served short stints in the position, but were temporary chairwomen.
Ms. Wasserman Schultz, 44, is known for her strong fund-raising abilities, party officials said, and would become one of the few high-profile woman surrogates on television for the president. She first gained national attention during the Florida recount in 2000, when she was a state legislator, and has been a rising figure in the party over the last decade.
Former Governor Ted Strickland of Ohio was among the finalists for the position, party officials said, along with a handful of other former Democratic governors. Shes replacing Tim Kaine, wholl spend next year accusing George Allen of wanting to kill grandma. I was going to celebrate her appointment by reposting the video from February of her objecting on the House floor to the term ObamaCare for being disparaging, but in honor of Ryanpalooza, lets go with this one instead from last September. The Democrats need people who are expert in scaring seniors, and they dont come more expert than liberals from Florida. Good call, Barry.

Wasserman Schultz was born in Forest Hills, Queens in New York City and grew up on Long Island.
During her tenure in Florida's state legislature, she was considered one of the most liberal representatives in the state. She fought for legislation protecting women, seniors, and children, including legislation requiring gender price parity for dry cleaning and ensuring an equal number of men and women were appointed to state boards. She pushed through several bills including the Florida Residential Swimming Pool Safety Act and one creating a Children's Services Council for Broward County. She received an award from the Save The Manatee Club for her commitment to manatee protection as state senator.
Wasserman Schultz is pro-choice, pro-gun control and pro-gay rights. She was strongly critical of the Stupak-Pitts Amendment, which places limits on taxpayer-funded abortions in the context of the November 2009 Affordable Health Care for America Act.
On September 29, 2008, Wasserman Schultz voted for the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008.[16]
On October 3, 2008, Wasserman Schultz voted for the revised version of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008.

"Gender price parity for dry cleaning" appears to be the peak of her political career for 11 years in the Florida Senate and House.
.
....I agree!
Did you see the wedding ring? Some wimpy lib dude probably sleeps on the couch.......permanently.
Is it really a woman?
I wouldn’t want to be the one to find out.
she.speaks.like.a.nasally.robot.good.choice.dims.
The woman is a train wreck: grating, cruel, bossy, angry, and dumb as a box of rocks. I have seen coffee tables out debate her.
And she's been cloned by the millions all across America...
Didn’t Rick Scott promise to do something about that?
Maybe it’s going to happen and the Poodle knows it, thus her acceptance of the disgusting but fitting DNC job.
Does she stink?
Well, you know how those libs love to emulate the Europeans.
JAP-—I think so.
NJG-—no way.
Is there any chance she might do something about her hair?
