Does anyone know the definite status of military pay if there’s a shutdown?

I have this sick premonition of it being 20 years from now, and some sonorous, vapid journobot, a Pretty Chicken, if you will, will be intoning “... hearkens back to 2010, the last time Congress passed a budget.”

Does this mean that Vacationer-in-Chief is warning the staff to prepare his suitcases for another vacation?
Can’t expect Vacationer-in-Chief to be in the Oval Office, if the government is going to be shut down.

“I disagree. The American people are not in the same plastic banana feel-good mood they were in during the Clinton years, and on top of that this has happened specifically because the Democrats refused to pass a budget last fall. As well, in 1995 FOX News wasnt the most popular news station, and there wasnt a blogosphere and Matt Drudge to get our argument out. These things didnt even exist.
The facts are quite different this time.”
Spot on.

I remember the last time they shut down, I live in upstate New York and nobody here even noticed.
That is a major concern, and the politicians know it -- if the gov is shut down too long, people may come to realize they don't need it afterall. Then, the politicians (both parties) could be in real political trouble.
Thus, these shutdowns are designed to last only a few days -- just long enough to garner headlines and castigate the opposition.

Well, we always said it was easier to oppose the rats than it was to get any control of BUSH’s rubberstamp congress. We were to the republicans what the african-americans (and hard left) are to the democrat party: Where ya gonna go?

I say keep all “nonessential” functions shut down permanently.
Why do we have to pay for nonessential crap?

I hope everyone who can will write/call/email/fax these freshmen GOP’ers for moral support. Before, during, and after this is over.
The MSM will be ruthless. The dems will lie. Many voters are dumbed down and addicted to Uncle Sugar Daddy.
This is one of those times where the rubber meets the road.

How can the democratic congress who failed to come up with a budget blame anyone but themselves?Based on past practices, I am very sure they will attempt to blame someone else anyway.

We need a government that is a constitutional republic.
What we have now, seems like were better off without, except for maybe defense.

Getting close to April 15th. Wonder if the order includes the IRS?
I hope they ground Air Force 1 during the shutdown, so bambi can't use it for fund-raising on his reelection tour.
