Undocumented workers in Utah will be allowed to apply for temporary legal residency under legislation signed into law last week. HB 469, the Utah Pilot Sponsored Resident Immigrant Program Act, surprised politicians with its forward-thinking approach.
Under the program, illegal immigrants working in Utah can apply for legal temporary resident status if they pass a health and background check, and can show that they have not been convicted of or pled anything but not guilty to a felony or class A misdemeanor. A class A misdemeanor is an offense serious enough to be punished by a year in jail and/or a fine of up to $4,000.
The immigrant must also have a sponsor who is willing to take responsibility for his or her income.

UTAH??????
If it is “unconstitutional” for the State of Arizona to defend its borders from the invasion from the south, it also has to be “unconstitutional” for these pinheads in Utah to write immigration laws.
Interesting. I bet within six months they will find the illegals will be just as illegal, and just as many if not more than presently in the state. Difficult to turn a law breaking illegal into a silk purse. The state is trying hard time will tell.
“HB 469, the Utah Pilot Sponsored Resident Immigrant Program Act, surprised politicians with its forward-thinking approach.”
Sounds like they had Genevieve at “Undocumented.”
I wonder if this includes all the various identities that are used as long as they haven't yet been arrested or convicted.
Probably a result of ultra-religious types more concerned about “helping people” than following the damn law.
Which is why I’m always suspicious of so-called “conservatives” who wear their religion on their sleeve. I’m not saying that they should be ignored, but many (Huckabee is a good example) feel that their personal religious values mean either nanny-statism, or stuff like this.
Never ignore the power of the Mormon business cronies in the State. This is about keeping wages low and shoring up their expansion efforts in South America. Never mind the human trafficking. Huntsman’s industries get cheap labor and the Mormons can show how “compassionate” they are.
Fortunately the rank and file of the State are not so enamored of this. Expect a big turnover soon as all the reps and senators who voted for this abomination are being targeted by the tea parties and other pre-existing conservative elements. This law proves just how corrupt the Republican Party has become over the years with their easy electoral victories. The next election is going to be interesting to say the least as the battle between conservatives and the State’s growing libero-wacko base fight for dominance.

It’s all about business, Mormons are converting LOTS of Latinos!
Another state where the government lays down and wee, wees on them selves when the LDS start shaking the collection plate.
This article needed a Barf Alert. Any article that describes Amnesty and the resulting death of America as “forward thinking” is a piece of leftist bile.
Utah, the same state that offers the legal loophole for release of child rapists found to be incompetent to stand trial, yet deemed not to be a threat to society.
Between that and the issue about illegals’ amnesty, something very poisonous is happening in that state.
LOL
English is already a second language in most rural counties.
I got Rosetta Stome/LAtin Am edition so I can order a hambuger in Toole.....
Correct. Arizona is only trying to enforce existing federal statues. Utah is writing new ones.
Correct. Chris Cannon, ex-congressman, and Bill Bennett, ex-senator, got their pink slips for pushing precisely this kind of crap.
Since the law requires these legalized illegals to find sponsors actually willing to put their money on the line, the politicians pushing this better hope that few enough cases come forward to raise the public's ire.
BINGO!!!
Just as the Catholic church aides and abets illegal immigration in many states in order to fill their coffers!
"Render unto Caesar" has long since been deleted from scripture!!!!
Ping!
