Many of the Obama administration's top open government initiatives are set to be turned off by May 31.
Government sources confirm that the Office of Management and Budget is planning to take seven websites dark in two months because of a lack of funding.
One government official, who requested anonymity because they didn't get permission to discuss the topic, said funding will begin to run out on April 20 for public sites IT Dashboard, Data.gov and paymentaccuracy.gov. The source said OMB also is planning on shutting down internal government sites, including Performance.gov, FedSpace and many of the efforts related the FEDRamp cloud computing cybersecurity effort.
The official said two other sites, USASpending.gov and Apps.gov/now, will run through July 30 but go dark soon after...

With all of the tons of extra spending, this bozo couldn’t properly plan the finances to keep these sites running? What an incompetent fool as president.
Someone sent me a list of thousants of California government programs and “offices”, you know, office of this, office of that, with the comment, of all these, the only things they can think to cut are libraries, police and fire services?
And I am sure it is just coincidence that these sites, offering transparency, are shutting down “because the Republicans shut down the government”.
How much does it cost to transfer files too a website nowadays, anyway?
“The White House requested $35 million for the e-government fund in 2011. The House allocated only $2 million in its bill, H.R. 1. The Senate, meanwhile, would provide $20 million for the e-government fund. “
Wtf? Why doesn’t he shut down MoochelleWookie’s staff first instead of (apparently) some government reportability sites that only had lip service support from zero to begin with??
This has the appearance of yet another artificially manufactured crisis...
On less round of Golf a year would fund every one of those sites for a decades.
As well as feed 5,000 starving children.
Union cops and firefighters are the first to go.
Tried and true scare tactic from the feds down to township dog catcher.
We wouldn’t want these federal unionists to go without a job would we?
And so it begins.
Since this thread deals with money, it’s appropriate that I pose my question here.
All of The One’s Czars and other minions have been looking to sue the crap out of every private enterprise organization they can find over the past couple of years. So where has all that money gone (the fines)? Has it gone to the Treasury? Or has it mysteriously found its way into the CREEP, the Committee to Re-Elect the Creep?
The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
So we’ll be firing the staff who administrates, imports and exports data tables, and they’ll be turning in their govt provided cars, expense accounts, along with terminating the leases for the facilities, as well as terminating all leases on computers, office furniture, club memberships, T&E budgets, recruiting, and any bonus programs?
Can't leave libraries up; people might start reading and thinking for themselves. They might get the idea that they are the bosses, not the politicians and petty bureaucratic dictators. People might start questioning the necessity of government.
Can't leave police in place; they need people to be afraid of the dark and to beg for the government to do something.
Can't leave fire services in play; they'll need something at which to point a finger when tragedy strikes while the government is "shut down." ,p>Above, they need all the extraneous, unnecessary services to remain in play to keep the unwashed complacent.
It’s less expensive to just to fill the FOI requests.
Will graft.gov, bribery.gov and kickbacks.gov still be up and running?
