Duke lacrosse accuser arrested (Again)

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Police say former Duke lacrosse accuser Crystal Mangum was arrested again overnight.

Authorities say Mangum was arrested Saturday night and is being charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to commit robbery and inflicting serious injuries.

Mangum is being held at the Durham County Jail with no bond. She will make her first apperance in court on Monday. Police have not released any further information on the arrest.

It was actually the Group of 88 at Duke, but who is counting? This despicable group has not had to suffer in the least. They were never held into account by the administration and it doesn't seem to have hurt the careers of this group of AHs in the least. Many have moved on to bigger and better things. I don't recall (I may be wrong) that any of this group were even reprimanded for their outrageous behavior.

This group of professors are probably no different than any of which you would fine at any other institution of higher learning (I was actually able to type that without laughing) at least in the BS departments. And that BS doesn't mean Bachelor of Science. In the humanities and social sciences most American Universities and Colleges are simply intellectual cesspools.

Duke lacrosse accuser charged with assault

A Durham woman, known for falsely accusing three Duke University lacrosse players of rape in 2006, was arrested on assault charges Sunday.

Durham County jail officials said that Crystal Mangum was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. She is being held without bond.

Details of what led to her arrest were not immediately available.

Mangum was charged with attempted murder and arson in February 2010 after police said she assaulted her boyfriend in front of her children and lit some of his clothes on fire.

In January, a jury found her not guilty of the most serious charges but convicted her of three counts of child abuse, injury to personal property and resisting a public officer. She was sentenced to 88 days in jail, which she had already served while awaiting trial.

While a student at North Carolina Central University in March 2006, Mangum worked as a stripper and performed at a party hosted by members of the Duke lacrosse team. She claimed three white players trapped her inside a bathroom at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd. and raped and sexually assaulted her.

Mike Nifong, Durham County’s district attorney at the time, had the three players indicted on rape and other charges on the basis of Mangum’s allegations, but the case later began to crumble with her wavering in key details of her story.

That forced Nifong to dismiss the rape charges, and several months later, North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper dismissed the remaining charges, saying there was no credible evidence to support the charges.

Nifong was later disbarred for withholding DNA evidence from defense attorneys in the case.

Yes, they could have been shot. And to be accurate, Crystal Mangum was not what they ordered for the party when they hired a stripper.
