Cops seek vandal who tore Bible at Episcopal...in New Haven, CT (My Headline Edit)

NEW HAVEN — Whoever broke into the Episcopal Church of St. Paul & St. James early Saturday smashed stained glass windows and tore a Bible in half, but did not steal anything of great value.

The damage done, however, was worse than what could be measured in money.

The Rev. Alex Dyer, priest in charge of the Wooster Square neighborhood church since August, said he can only imagine that the person responsible for the vandalism was filled with anger or hate. And in this Lenten season, the holiest time of year for Christians, Dyer said the focus is on forgiveness.

I wonder if Obama will come out and condemn this?

Maybe we should riot at a UN office and kill a bunch of people to show everyone how angry this makes us...

Of course there is that issue with Exodus 20:13 and Matthew 5:21, so perhaps not.

“Can I go riot and kill today?”

I was wondering the same thing? Are we supposed to organize a riot or something?
I don’t really have time today however; I need to plant my garden today.

Isn't yours the illuminating difference between the Judeo/Christian response and the muslim response? They go out and kill and you go out and plant a garden to sustain life.

You chose life and beauty. Good for you.

So true - Muslims seem to default to riot mode. Christians seem to default to something peaceful.

Is there anything that doesn’t make the middle east angry?

This is Rosa DeLauro’s neighborhood. Wonder if she will consider this a hate crime?

You'd think that, but then the muslims there would simply go back to killing other muslims as they've done for hundreds of years.

Good point. Nothing makes them happy for very long.

I’m surprised there was even a Bible in the Episcopal church. The church abandoned the Bible in spirit many years ago.

If you are a Christian... No.

You are permitted to fight in self-defense, or in defense of the helpless, but we are known by our love.

Loving someone means speaking the truth to them, and I prefer to speak FOR Christ rather than AGAINST Mohammed.

As an ex Episcopal, I sadly agree with you. There are churches in the Anglican communion, however, that cling to orthodoxy and are members of the Anglican Alliance which is seeking leadership from the more conservative prelate in Africa. Despite this, the priest there made a very apt response to the vandalism and that was to pray for the sinner. Our duty as Christians is to pray for the redemption of those who are unbelievers.

When we see how many are hated Him (Jesus) when He was on earth, we can begin to understand why so many hate His words.

John 6:63; Jesus is speaking: “It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life, he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” (John 11:25

‘Therefore thou art inexcuseable O man, .......not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?” (Romans 2:1-4)

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. “ (Hebrews 4:12)

In Proverbs 16:6 “By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”

“How shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to Thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from Thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee.” (Psalm 119: 9-11)

Himmm...islamofascist response to koran burning - riot and kill indiscriminately.

Christian response to savaging of Bible - police investigation of criminal tresspass and vandalism, individual responsible will be sought and if caught, prosecuted - probably given probation. Other Christians will help pay for new Bible.

I think the difference is that taking baths and not having sex with goats has a civilizing effect on humans. And of course the fact that Jesus is the ultimate expression of God's love for us and mohamed was a sad, pitiful, pedophile sand pirate and con artist who died a long time ago.
