I’m surprised there was even a Bible in the Episcopal church. The church abandoned the Bible in spirit many years ago.

As an ex Episcopal, I sadly agree with you. There are churches in the Anglican communion, however, that cling to orthodoxy and are members of the Anglican Alliance which is seeking leadership from the more conservative prelate in Africa. Despite this, the priest there made a very apt response to the vandalism and that was to pray for the sinner. Our duty as Christians is to pray for the redemption of those who are unbelievers.
