GROWING DEEP AND STRONG
One day, my mother and I were working together in the garden where we were transplanting plants for the third time. Grown from seed in a small container, the plants had been transferred to a larger container; then transplanted into the garden. Now, because I was moving, we were transplanting them once again.
Inexperienced as a gardener, I turned to my green-thumbed mother. "Isnt this bad for them?" I asked, as we dug them up and shook the dirt from the roots. "Wont it hurt these plants, being uprooted and transplanted so many times?" "Oh" my mother replied. "Transplanting doesnt hurt them. In fact, its good for the ones that survive. Thats how their roots grow strong. Their roots will grow deep, and they will make strong plants".
Often, Ive felt like those small plants uprooted and turned upside. Sometimes Ive endured the change willingly, sometimes reluctantly, but usually my reaction has been a combination. Wont this be hard on me? I ask. Wouldnt things be better if things remained the same? Thats when I remember my mothers words: Thats how the roots grow deep and strong.

Colds can really wear a person down, can’t they? And WHY hasn’t the medical profession come up with a cure for something that seems so simple?
That’s my deep thought for the week.

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

Hiya Kathy!!
Yeah, the girls and the guys have played a couple of games, but it's still suppose to get wet again!
We mowed until the mowers got stuck and had to be rescued, it's still going to take some more dry weather to get the fields completely ready!
You over the snow?
The cul-de-sac safe to drive in?

Time For A Checkup
April 3, 2011
Every year I have a physicalthat periodic visit to the doctors office where Im poked and prodded, screened and studied. It is something that can be easy to dread, and even to fear. We arent sure what the tests will show or what the doctors will say. Still, we know that we need this evaluation to understand our physical well-being and what is needed as we move forward.
The same is true spiritually in the life of the Christ-follower. We need to pause from time to time and reflect on the condition of our hearts and lives.
One place for an important self-study is at the Lords Table. Paul wrote to the Corinthians, some of whom were eating in an unworthy manner: Let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup (1 Cor. 11:28). In the remembrance of Christs death for us, there can be a sobering clarity of thought and understanding, for as we consider the price Jesus paid for us, it is the best time to consider the condition of our heart and our relationships. Then, with honest understanding of our spiritual well-being, we can turn to Him for the grace we need to move forward in His name.
Is it time for your checkup?
Search me, O God, my heart discern;
Try me, my inmost thoughts to learn.
Help me to keep from sin, I pray,
Guarding my mind throughout this day. Anon.
Self-examination is one test from which no Christian is excused.
Read: 1 Corinthians 11:27-29
Let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
1 Corinthians 11:28
