Interestingly enough, the straw poll coincided with the hillbilly Olympics and Gomer Pyle fan club event in the same city.

I neither hate nor respect Huckabee and will be supporting a more conservative candidate in the primary but if Huckabee wins the nomination, I will be voting for him over the marxist jawa in the White House.

Q: How do you know a Huckabee voter?
A: When the front porch collapses, at least 9 coon dogs die.

Headline is a bit misleading. This was a straw poll conducted at 1 county meeting - about 150 people in attendance. Not exactly a statewide straw poll.

I am convinced that the Republican Party will choose another
moronic RINO looser, just like McStain.

(1) Straw polls, in any state, are virtually meaningless. That said, however, Mike Huckabee should certainly be considered a first-tier GOP presidential candidate, along with Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, and (possibly) Tim Pawlenty. And maybe even Mitch Daniels; although a case could be advanced for placing him in the second tier of presidential candidates.
(2) Nonetheless, the deep, visceral hatred of the former governor of Arkansas--not from the political left, or even just from libertarians, but from conservatives also--seems utterly inexplicable.
Could it be simply because his erstwhile job description (i.e. the former governor of Arkansas) brings up some very unpleasant memories?
