Anger over Quran burning spreads in Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan – Anger over the burning of the Muslim holy book at a Florida church fueled a second day of deadly violence half a world away in Afghanistan, where demonstrators set cars and shops ablaze Saturday in a riot that killed nine protesters, officials said.

The church's desecration of the Quran nearly two weeks ago has outraged millions of Muslims and others worldwide, fueling anti-American sentiment that is further straining ties between the Afghan government and the West.

The uproar even brought violence to the normally peaceful northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif on Friday, when a crowd of protesters — apparently infiltrated by insurgents — stormed a U.N. compound in an outpouring that left four Afghan protesters and seven foreign U.N. employees dead.

The Quran was burned March 20, but many Afghans only found out about it when Afghan President Hamid Karzai condemned the desecration four days later.

The Koran is as wrong as 2 left shoes, Islam is a pagan religion of the 1st order.

That being said, a Christian Church has no business burning a copy of Koran. It does nothing, zip, nada to advance the Kingdom of God.

Anything that brings to public discussion of the nature of the Koran and the behavior of Koranimals IS good.

Maybe I am not devout enough but if a Muslim in Afghanistan burned a Bible I would not take to the street and riot. I’d like to ask other Christians if they would go bonkers and indulge in a violent spree. Just want to see if I am perhaps deficient in my faith and ardor. Thanks for the help.

You just can’t make this stuff up.

Some guy burns a book in Florida so Afghanni Muzzies terrorize their own neighborhoods.

Idiots.

Mixed feelings . . .

Mostly agree.

Though, in part, I think we should burn 100 of their books for every 1 of ours they burn.

We should all be burning korans on a daily basis.

The burning of the Koran has nothing to do with what Islamics are doing. They have been doing that since the first day it existed.

Islam has never been peaceful since the first raping, pillaging, murdering prophet Muham’N’eggs may pig piss be upon him

Public discussion is one thing.

Book burning was not modeled in the New Testament as a way to advance the Kingdom.

Well, I don’t want to waste good money buying a Koran in order to burn it.

But it seems to me that the main lesson to be learned from all this—as usual—is that Muslims are a bunch of murderous pigs, who take delight in cutting off the heads of innocent bystandards just because they’re angry.

And their clerics drive around with loudspeakers, urging them on.

Which is worse: one Christian cleric burning a Koran, or hundreds of Muslim clerics driving around and urging their followers to kill the nearest bystanders and burn down any handy shops and houses?

Muslims getting violent about this a month later only proves the point the guy was making by burning the Koran in the first place. Nice going idiots! A bunch of sheep.

"Anger over the burning of the Muslim holy book at a Florida church fueled a second day of deadly violence"

Oh for goodness sakes. ANY excuse for a riot! Sounds like some we have here in the States.

Saudi Arabia, with the help of the US, burns bibles imported into that country routinely.

I have no problem with citizens burning Korans.

As Christians we are told to spread the Gospel. That will inspire a greater hatred, but also spread the Kingdom.

Bibles are burned in the Middle East all the time, but I have not burned a single shop down or torched a car on Main Street, U.S.A.

People in America get more upset if you wear a S.F. Giants T-shirt to a Dodgers game.

From a religous standpoint, you're probably right. However, from a constitutional standpoint, buring the Koran is protected speech.

Exactly. That a mere burning of one lousy book in FL by some barely known Rev. would cause riots (with resulting deaths) to break out throughout the Muslim world should be a wakeup call to all those who still think that Mohammedans can be reasoned with on any level.

But that's okay cause because Bibles are Judeo/Christian and should be wiped off the face of the earth.
