The Giants fan who was severely beaten at the end of the Dodgers home opener Thursday is a Santa Cruz paramedic and the father of two children.
Bryan Stow, 42, hit his head on the pavement during the attack and is in a medically induced coma, family members told the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
"He's not doing too well," brother-in-law David Collins told the paper. "He's still unconscious and they just decided to put him in a medically induced coma. They are hoping the brain swelling will go down, but it hasn't and they are talking about removing one of his frontal lobes."
The Los Angeles Police Department released sketches of two suspects in the attack.

Hunter’s Point, the neighborhood surrounding Candlestick, is one of the worst in SF. I used to go to Giants games at the Stick, but that was in the late 80s/early 90s, and it wasn’t quite as bad.
This is horrible. For them to attack Bryan & his two friends like COWARDS, from the back, earns them a spot in hell. And a quick one, too. I doubt the Giants fans were talking smack in the parking lot. Prayers up...

It’s the same with the players. I admire the respect that the Houston and St. Louis players have for each other. Even though I’m a Cardinal fan, there’s something I’ve always liked about Lance Berkman, and I thought it was shame when Houston traded him. I am thrilled that he’s now a Cardinal. I’m sure Astros fans will give The Big Puma a warm welcome when the Cards play their first game there (if he doesn’t get injured first).
For a vaunted rivalry, there were a lot fewer fans in the seats this afternoon.

It’s a La Raza festival. Good thing I’m Italian-Asian mix and 6 feet tall so whenever I watch my Mariners visit L.A., the mexicans dont bother me. But I feel for my obviously gringo buds who watch the game with me.
I suspect the whites have pretty much switched allegiance to the Angels.
True. I’ve watched 3 M’s games at Angels stadium a year ago and a large majority are white. The parking is a rip-off though.
Mariner fans are a disgusting lot! We go every year when the Yankees come to town and the mean spirited, ugly comments are really awful! Meanwile went to LA last year when the Yankess were there and I was scared for my life in that place. The stadium guards were searching pockets for knives, guns or any other kind of weapon available! WE were saying that if ICE came in raided the place we would have been sitting there alone!
I went to Dodger games at the Colisium and then the first few years at Dodger Stadium, early and mid 60s.
Nobody fought. White people did not dress and act like minorities and x-convicts.
You have to understand, California is doomed, once the whites leave (which is soon - I live here and am looking now), it’s done, finished
There is nothing but car lots, restaurants and liquor stores across most of Los Angeles. I was there yesterday visiting and the areas are more like Tijuana than America.
There is no border, the influx is huge and has taken to the Social Services for citizens, it’s a disaster.
Believe me, Cardinals fans are very respected in Houston. We have not forgotten how the fans gave our Astros a standing ovation at Busch Stadium when we defeated the Cardinals to finally win a pennant in 2005.
Local news commentary focused strongly on that and many letters were written to the local paper expressing how impressed our fans were with the Cardinals fans.
When Houston subsequently lost the World Series to the White Sox in our own ballpark, our fans stood and applauded the Sox. We learned that from your fans. :)
I hope the Puma does well for you. If we can't have him, I'm glad the Cardinals can.
Well, we are invested here ( family and business) so we will still be here, desperately trying to save this once great state with the other few who get it. It does look pretty hopeless though. I am thrilled that now more average californians are onto the scam of politicians + public sector unions = disaster for taxpayers. But the illegals + anchor babies = annihilation of taxpayers. Scary...
Same here. It's such a different story now, and did you notice how the stadium was half-empty yesterday? That was at the beginning of the game and early innings. By the end, maybe 10,000 in the park at most. Fans are furious with McCourt to start with and now this happens. I see a huge lawsuit coming the Dodgers' way. Number one question: Where was Security on Thursday night?
I am not aware of any sports venue in the USA where concealed carry is legally allowed. You are saying that in Washington State, you can legally carry at Safeco Field, and at Qwest Field?
