[Gov] Walker won't be on the ballot (unions to "get even" by voting environmental lawyer as SCJ)

On April 5 Wisconsinites will be voting for assorted alderpersons, trustees and school board candidates. The marquee event however, is the hotly contested Unions vs. Gov. Scott Walker race.

Oh sure, the ballot will say something about JoAnne Kloppenburg vs. David Prosser for Wisconsin Supreme Court justice, but they're just bit players in the unions' big play to get revenge on Walker for his budget repair bill. Unions are casting Justice Prosser as a Walker clone and urging Walker haters to use the high court race to punish Prosser/Walker by voting for his opponent, whoever she is.

Prosser, who has been a Supreme Court justice for 12 years, finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, being a conservative judge who happens to be up for re-election this year. He says he views the union action as "a little bit like a drive-by shooting."

It's a lot like that. The American Federation of Teachers, Local 212, sent a letter to its members saying legal challenges to Walker's budget repair bill could wind up before the state Supreme Court. It claimed four judges are "anti-union" and said, "A Kloppenburg victory would swing the balance to our side. A vote for Prosser is a vote for Walker. It's time to get even."

As for Kloppenburg, we know she's an assistant attorney general most experienced in environmental law. She interned for Chief Justice Abrahamson and clerked for former Chief Judge Barbara Crabb - the judge who ruled against the National Day of Prayer last year.

She makes campaign contributions only to Democrats, and has been endorsed by the big labor and teachers unions. The executive director of NARAL Pro Choice Wisconsin endorses her, as well as numerous liberal environmental activist groups.

The liberals see something in Kloppenburg they like.

It can't be her judicial experience. No, they just need a "Get Even With Walker" candidate, and she'll do. Revenge voters only care about who they're voting against, not who they're voting for.

The Kloppenberg i.e. union people are trying to revoke the recently passed union bill by putting a leftist on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. These clowns are actually trying to argue that with a Pubbie legislature and gov, Prosser would be a conservative and controlled by the right. As if Kloppenberg isn’t going to take her marching orders from the unions. It’s a joke.

And the column makes clear Kloppenberg is the ideologue:

Prosser's rulings, though, are a matter of public record. We see that he often concurs with the other conservative judges, but he's not an ideologue. The Wisconsin Law Journal reported in August that Prosser also concurred with the liberal justices more than half the time...

Long term being ten years or more! I can't wait that long....I will literally be forced out of my house by its declining value and ever-increasing property taxes. It's now or never.

And unfortunately, the stars are very misaligned against poor Justice Prosser. The only other major race that is occuring in this spring election is a hotly contested mayoral race between lefty and leftier in Madison. There are no similar races in conservative leaning areas to couteract the Godzilla of Dane County voters.

I really want to believe that the left will receive another huge slap in the face with a Prosser win. I am less optimistic about that on a daily basis.

I would like to see the Gov issue pink slips on Wednesday, regardless of the outcome of Tuesday's election. Mary Ann Sumi has given both sides until MAY 23 to collect their briefs for further arguments about her TRO on the Budget Repair Bill. I realize Governor Walker is trying the best he can not to lay people off - it's time for him to stop caring it.

I do not have sufficient words to express my total and complete disgust with the commie libs in this state.

If WI is like IL, the voters in the cities like Milwaukee (or Chicago in IL) can control the outcome for the rural areas. Also, it is easy to commit vote fraud in these urban areas....

Should the very worst happen and Kloppenberg is elected, Scott Walker still has one of the most powerful Governor's pen in the nation. He has a year before an attempt to recall him can be enacted. I wonder if an EO decertifying unions in Wisconsin would sufficiently cripple their cash flow to the extent that even a recall effort would fail.

I bet that if Walker does roll out the pink slips, the unions will be on the court’s doorstep again within minutes of the pink slips being received.

They’ll find some sympathetic judge who will rule that it’s unconstitutional for Walker to lay off those workers.

I just hope that Walker is anticipating all these shenanigans and has a plan to stay one step ahead of them.

Prosser got 55% in the non-partisan primary. Kloppenburg only got 25%.

I talked off the record with a guy who has internal polling. The numbers show the liberals firming up their base, but not drawing off all that many who were going to vote for Prosser. Over the past few years, voters have almost always gone for the more conservative judicial candidate, even in years when democrats had most other statewide offices.

It’s all about turnout. Conservatives have to work to make sure their voters actually vote.

Not really. Plus, the Dems cheat. This is touch and go. Every Conservative, Republican, and Tea Partier MUST get out and vote for Prosser on Tuesday. I've already voted.

You fail to mention that the 80 year old farmer offered to ditch and re-route the run off so that it would not go into the river and she refused, saying it was not a "natural" solution. Then, she threw him into jail 2 weeks after he'd gotten out of the hospital after heart surgery. While he was in jail, she had her cronies swoop down onto his bank account and suck $5000 out of it in fines.

Justice David Prosser Jr. is being challenged in the April 5 general election by assistant State Attorney General Joanne Kloppenburg. Prosser was appointed to the Wisconsin Supreme Court by Gov. Tommy Thompson in 1998, and elected in 2001.

It’s absolutely amazing that a judge on the supreme court of Wisconsin in the form of a Progressive activist can just vote down a piece of legitimately passed legislation because she just doesn’t agree with it.

If the unions are known for bussing in from Chicago, perhaps a “farmer” or two might just take his farm equipment out onto the main highways and have a “breakdown” just around the border towns...seems to me alot of highway problems might help prevent bussing (if you get my drift!)
