Well, in terms of the spirit of the law, he’s a hero.

No, someone who refused to deploy to Afghanistan to treat wounded soldiers as was his duty to do is no hero in my book. I put him into the same category of lowlifes where one finds Obama and his ilk. You won't find many soldiers who call him hero.

Taken out of context, perhaps, or are you as scary as you make yourself out to be?

Another gem from you:

Americans requesting potassium iodine tablets should be given potassium cyanide in lieu. They are clearly to stupid to be allowed to continue living on this planet.

ANY soldier of any rank has to follow orders and do his/her job, as long as it’s a LEGAL order. Colonel Lakin received his orders, decided they were not legal, and he had a Constitutional responsibility to NOT follow those orders. Any honorable Officer or enlisted man, who honestly believed Obama wasn’t elected in accordance with the Constitution, would have NO CHOICE but to refuse his/her orders.
Why more soldiers didn’t do the same thing as the Colonel, I don’t know. I assume most young enlisted types don’t take the Constitution as seriously as they should. Some probably went along with things because they didn’t want to ruin their careers.
All I know is that I have the highest respect for Colonel Lakin. He did what he felt was right, and what he felt his duty was, and he paid the price for it, willingly. He has brought honor upon himself, the Army, and this Nation.

It is a requirement to be critical in your obedience to orders. I took many classes while in Officers Candidate School at Fort Benning Georgia. It was constantly reinforced during those classes, “It is the duty of all leaders to disobey illegal orders...” All of my former comrades that I keep in touch with consider Lt Col Lakin as a heroic figure. He continued his course when all the bought and paid for forces warped Law and Common sense while stacking the deck in his Court Martial against him.
I would volunteer to serve under this Patriot any time, Anywhere.
