Older lesbian, gay and bisexual adults in California are more likely to suffer from chronic physical and mental health problems than their heterosexual counterparts, a new analysis has found. They also are less likely to have live-in partners or adult children who can help care for them.
The research brief was based on data from the California Health Interview Survey, the nation’s largest state health survey, gathered in 2003, 2005 and 2007 by the Center for Health Policy Research at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Older gay and bisexual men — ages 50 to 70 — reported higher rates of high blood pressure, diabetes and physical disability than similar heterosexual men, according to the researchers. Older gay and bisexual men also were 45 percent more likely to report symptoms of psychological distress and 50 percent more likely to rate their health as fair or poor. In addition, one in five gay men in California was living with H.I.V. infection, the researchers found.
Yet half of California’s older gay and bisexual men lived alone, compared with 13.4 percent of older heterosexual men.
Older lesbian and bisexual women experienced similar rates of diabetes and hypertension compared with straight women of their age, but reported significantly more physical disabilities and psychological distress and were 26 percent more likely to say their health was fair or poor.
More than one in four older lesbian and bisexual women said they lived alone, compared with only one in five heterosexual women.

Oddly enough, when I the handle of a screwdriver as a hammer, it tends to wear out a lot quicker than when I use the screwdriver as a screwdriver, or hammer with a hammer. Isn’t it strange how we can see that tools are made for specific purposes, but can’t understand this about our own anatomy?

The article reads almost like a parody - as if the authorette can’t imagine where all the problems of aging sodomites really come from. If she knew anything about sodomites, she would also know that younger sodomites hate old sodomites.
Homosexual men are an immune compromised demographic and were prior to the emergence of AIDS (immune compromised = population with more infections, more hospitalizations, more chronic conditions). This has been known for several decades. New studies just add to the mountain of evidence.
Unfortunately most people think homosexuals aren’t destructive and are born that way because of the influence of the MSM. They can look reality in the face and ignore it because of something they’ve seen on TV.
AIDS was originally going to be called GRID, which is an acronym standing for Gay Related Immune Deficiency. But the name was changed, so as not to foster a stereotype of this disease process being associated with homosexual men.

If you control for HIV, the data still suggest that the gay lifestyle is damaging to body and mind. Psychologists have known this for 20 years, but are trying to find politically correct hypotheses.
Back then, I had a hobby following societal responses to diseases (got interested in anthropology class). It was called GRID for a short while but it quickly spread from homosexuals to IV drug users (also immune compromised). They generalized the name after that but I do think they did it partly to take heat off homosexuals.
