WASHINGTON – Despite fresh pressure from tea party conservatives, House Speaker John Boehner said Thursday that Republicans "can't impose our will" on the White House and Senate Democrats on legislation to cut tens of billions of dollars in federal spending.
At a news conference, Boehner, R-Ohio, denied Democratic suggestions that he has already agreed to jettison nearly half of the $61 billion in cuts passed by the House a month ago

Well said. That is exactly what he was sent there to do. The measly 32 billion they are sweating bullets over is less than 1% of the budget and only 2% of the frigging deficit!

What many conservatives need to understand, and still don’t, is that the dems cannot allow for reduced spending. This is life and death for them. Once the camel gets his nose in the tent and then people see that the world did not collapse and thousands of children did not die, then it will be easier to cut even more spending. Thus the death throws begin for big govt.

Guess Boehner is planning not to run next year. If he caves on cutting spending, there is no reason to have him in the House.
Agree. I said back before the vote that Boehner was not qualified to be Speaker of the House. He believed it was ‘his’ because he’s been there so long. Much like McCain with his candidacy for president.
Beohner I knew last year would never stand up for what the people, let alone conservatives wanted.
I think the House Pubbies need to revolt and take back their vote ... tell Boehner they want a re-do!
