NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- If you're already shocked by how much your favorite cut of beef costs at the supermarket, brace yourself because prices will keep going up.
Surging commodity prices already have consumers paying more for groceries such as eggs, milk, cereal and meat. The price of beef in particular has shot through the roof
In February, the average retail price per pound for beef was $3.87, up 12.4% versus a year ago, according to market research firm FreshLook Data.
The average retail price for a pound of chicken was up 3.9% in February versus a year ago, turkey was up 5.4%, veal up 6.7% and pork up 10%.

The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Bush’s FAULT!
You gotta love it. Food and energy costs are going through the roof, but because politicians don’t want you to see those price increases, they “redefined” how they measure inflation saying that food and energy costs don’t reflect “core costs”...whatever the hell that is. In the end, they voted themselves a hefty pay increase but told me and everyone else living on Social Security that prices haven’t changed. Really? What rock are you living under, Senator?
bttt
Beef prices shocked me last Summer. But boy, the pork loin in the next counter was fantastic.
Wages
BTW, if there is a Super 88 market near you, shop there. They have produce you will not find in traditional supermarkets.
Sadly as things get worse the bimbo MSM will ramp up the greedy farmers stories. In reality they should look no further than themselves and the thin skinned village idiot in the WH as to cause. Farmers are getting hammered not only w/ fuel costs but also fertilizer and other petro based chems. All this gets passed on in some form to the end user. Its not like farmers are making out on the deal...
Wages
Obama’s approval numbers............
We are pretty much eating pork and chicken right now. Little to no beef.
Wages
Has anyone ever heard of such a dumb idea burn food.
Average intelligence of the Democrat voter,
who is hurt most by economic inflation,
but will still vote for the fool who is causing it.
I dont see it as wages as most of it is mechanized. Scary thing is most farmers are hurting and getting 1.10? a lb?
I’d say “Jobs”, Alex. Or “my paycheck”.
Burn corn = higher costs for everything that uses corn. Cereals, products using corn syrup (lots!).
Burn corn = higher corn costs and other crop costs. Because the corn that is used in ethanol is not corn eaten by humans, it is feed corn. But farmers plant more feed corn for ethanol and less corn for people to eat and so corn prices go up. Also feed corn planted takes away an edible cropland area for other crops (corn or others) so the farmer could have planted beans or soybeans or some other human edible crop.
