A judge in Madison, Wis., on Thursday ruled a controversial law severely limiting the collective bargaining powers of public employee unions in the state was not in effect.
Following a court hearing on March 29, Dane County Circuit Court Judge Maryann Sumi issued a declaration on Thursday morning stating that the state officials had not followed correct procedures when they published the law "and is therefore not in effect."

Government Unions Are Different

I explain this to the uninformed at least twice a week.
I just spoke on the phone to WI State Senate President Scott Fitzgerald’s press secretary, and he said emphatically that the Walker Administration is NOT suspending implementation of this law. In fact, once I told him about the source of this as TalkingPointsMemo.com, he said this is a George Soros funded blog site, and to discount & disbelieve anything that is contained in this website. The Dane County Judge Sumi is so far out on the limb from a separation of duties standpoint and far exceeding her judicial scope, that she will be slammed down but hard because of her overreach. Unfortunately a Temporary Restraining Order is a rule of law and needs to be abided by.... but that is a far cry from saying that Walker or Huebsch have suspended implementation of the law. Right now there are teams of lawyers from the DOA, the AG & Governor’s office to get this rogue judge’s ruling legally thrown out, so that some other left-wing judge cannot come back on some other microscopic point to delay implementation of the law.
Thanks for the update! It has been reported all day on local ABC radio news as Walker giving in and stopping implementation of the law.
“Dane County District Attorney, Ismael Ozanne. Ozanne, a Democrat, charged that the law should not be enacted because he believed Wisconsin lawmakers violated a state open meetings law, requiring 24-hour notice, when they passed the measure.”
Just heard Ozanne’s name mentioned this morning in relation to the death threats against the Republican state senators...he is supposed to be pursuing it and he is dragging his feet on doing anything about it. He’s a real piece of work.....
He didn’t throw in the towel. This is simply a skirmish that got blown out of proportion.
Walker recognized the fact of a judicial order. He is now going to let the process unfold. The judiciary may well rule in his favor. If it does not, they can simply pass the bill again.
Minor setbacks occur all the time in life. Just keep moving forward.
THANK YOU for the GOOD NEWS.
I agree completely. I do not believe there is any record left before her to deal with—it should all have been certified and sent up t o the Wis Supreme Court.
Exactly! Drudge Headline: "Mother of Union Official causes thousands of union workers to be laid off".
A talk radio host mentioned something so obvious, I overlooked it completely.
Although several other states have governors who are limiting public sector collective bargaining, Wisconsin appears to be the benchmark for the unions. The example given was 8500 people showing up to protest the actions of a governor in another state. We had 10 times that number of protesters for a month in Madison. Union bosses from around the nation are flooding Madison with money and people glad to participate in the protests.
I don’t know if you’ve heard this, but union thugs have cited businesses whose employees donated to Governor Walker’s campaign and are encouraging everyone, especially union members to boycott these businesses. Well, the latest union tactic is sending our letters to totally innocent business owners and informing them that if they won’t post signs in their businesses stating they agree with the union’s position, they will be boycotted. It has really become Chicago politics around Madison.
I still hold out hope that the silent majority, especially those in the private sector who have suffered in this recession, will show up at the polls and retain Judge Prosser as Supreme Court judge.

I share your hope about Prosser. Wasn't Walker elected in November? Hopefully that election will be recent enough to stick into people's minds about why they put him there.
Where do you public union workers get off demanding that your neighbors pay for your health care and pensions for the rest of your lives? You're not collectively bargaining against some fat cat CEO flying on a company jet. You are collectively bargaining against your neighbors who make half as much as you do. " -- Rush Limbaugh.
I like your idea....GOP Glee.....
Perfect comparison. These rulings really are a bunch of “ahem”s.
So, legislators make laws, but judges can say, “Um, no, no, that’s not a law.” Yup, it’s broken and time for us to press the big, red reset button.
I've received at least 3 phone calls that cite Judge Prosser’s abilities and at least 5 mailings. I hope conservatives turn out to vote....you know unions will be encouraging their members to vote for his opponent, and vote often.

If the government of Wisconsin can no longer function, then it is time for a new government with severe restrictions on power. Who is more important? Individuals or the state?
Wow! That is some imperial power she's swingin' up there!
