Rethinking Sarah Palin For President
Irish Examiner USA ^ | 3/29/2011 | By Alicia Colon

Although I have written several columns expressing my admiration for Sarah Palin, I admit I have never taken her seriously as a 2012 presidential candidate. I've always felt that her greatest asset was as a kingmaker and behind the scenes advisor. In addition I've assumed that she wasn't that interested in pursuing the job but rather enjoyed making waves in the liberal media. The more I read the continuing attacks on Palin and her family I've started wondering why the Democrats and their media lapdogs fear her so much. Even some conservative pundits have determined that she is unelectable because of her high negatives. Those negatives are actually bogus and based on lies and misinformation and there is really only one word to describe Sarah Palin - indomitable.

Bill Maher played to the lowest common denominator and insinuated that Palin was a "dumb tw**t" and his moronic audience cheered. Ari Fleischer, a former press secretary in the George W. Bush administration, said recently that he couldn't see "any way, shape or form that [Palin] can win" the White House. Naturally there was a Public Policy poll that determined that Democratic and Independent voters would vote for Charlie Sheen over Sarah Palin. The fact that there was even such a poll should indicate the vigorous campaign to minimize her credibility as a serious candidate. Who's paying for these skewered polls anyway?

The anti-Palin campaign stretches to foreign media where Canadian TV columnist John Doyle writes in the Globe and Mail that television forever killed Palin's chances to be president. He writes: "television duly destroyed the Palin authenticity. The arc of her national political career began with a defining speech at the Republican National Convention in September, 2008,

Clearly you missed the point. No where has JR said you cannot debate any issues even Palin. So someone expressing their opinion and being told by a noob to go to DU makes FR look more like DU. Is that where you want to go?

“I got kicked out of. I got kicked off the high school debate team for saying “Yeah? Well F$%K you!” I thought I had won, ‘cause the other kid was *speechless*. I thought that's what we were trying to do.” Ron White.

That is not what debate is about.

Oh and as far as your inference that I am a troll. Real funny stuff - is that you have to debate? Want to talk facts or just name call like most Palinista. Is you princess so weak she cannot take any scrutiny on a conservative web site? You think you have to run to Palin’s defense every time she is attacked? What a joke. Some Palinista even wrote on FR that Palin was a big a victim of the shooting in Tucson as the wounded. What insane drivel.

Here I will start a real debate.

As things are now, Palin will not be the next President of the US.

Why? Because she has a solid disapproval rating among indentendents that stays in the 30 plus % range. No one can be president with number in their disfavor. I do not care who they are or what party they are from.

The US will not elect a female or minority as president after O. It will go back to a middle aged white man. Modern (last 100 years) political history says that.

Oh and history and citizenship has a great deal to do with how I rate FReepers. You claim to be an engineer. Is your rating system based upon + if the support Palin and - (reject data) if they do not?

I doubt you are like us, FRiend. Your posts reveal a decided bias toward someone else, despite your proclamations.

Pray tell what posts. FRiend.

In case you didn't notice, there are lots of "conservative Christians" who are leading the cheering squad for Governor Palin. Also, we are gaining ground and will raise lots of dollars to defeat the Obamination currently riding high on Air Force One while dining on Waygu and lobster. She is a proven leader.

I am all for defeating Obama. That she is a proven leader is debatable and you know it. When I say Conservative Christian, it means I don't up a twitter post by Tammy Bruce suggesting that those that are against homosexuality are themselves homosexuals. Sarah did, and it proves to me she is not as conservative Christian as I hoped.

You will soon be proven wrong, no matter the length of time you have visited here. Our benevolent FR leader, Jim Thompson, has proclaimed this as Palin Country.

Jim is a fine person, thus why I have been here so long. He is free to support whomever he wants and I am sure he has good reasons for his choices. As far as your picture, Jim once had Huckabee play a Freeper Ball too if I recall correctly. I am sure someone has a picture of him shaking Huck's hand too.

I would love a URL to Jim calling FR "Palin Country".. Thanks.

He hasn't ruled anybody out, but we're with him about Sarah.

If this is "Palin Country" why would he still be entertaining other possibilities? I personally have not made up my mind on whom I will be supporting. I have made up my mind on a few (yes they are listed on my FR page) I will not be supporting. Perhaps Jim is waiting like myself to see what comes of some candidates.

YMMV, but beware the backlash! DU will gladly welcome you...

I like it here, I don't carry a Palin ping list like yourself, but I enjoy the company here, even from you Palin nuts. Your hearts are good mostly, and you love your candidate, and that is fine with me. I can take a flame or two, and all good old FReepers know that stepping on toes gets ya an occasional "Go to DU" post. It is part of the territory.

Thanks again, Jim!

I agree.

They remind me of the Thompson crowd. Now there was a failed campaign from day one, but his rabid following drove thousands of people away from this forum in the process. And like Palin, he walked on water, healed the sick and brought the dead back to life.

Any tiny shred of concern or dislike for Thompson, brought the Wrath of God down on the blasphemer from the flock and the “abuse button” entries would nearly slow down the main server.

If we have this same kind of nasty exchange again in ‘12, (And we are already there) the chance we lose again is very high.

This is not a dumb woman. This is an extremely competent and courageous woman whom I'd vote for in a nanosecond as my Commander-in-Chief. Dream ticket-Palin/Rubio.

The more the media attacks her, the more we get to hear her intelligent and self-assured responses debunking them all - and all without a teleprompter. No wonder they hate her.

BTTT!

Interesting that out of all Reagan's accomplishments you select just one.

Reagan succeeded to the highest level of accomplishment in everything he tried. His life is a catalogue of repeated success, in many cases over adversity. And, being elected president of a the Screen Actors Guild is a noteworthy success.

Being twice elected Governor of one of the three largest states (in the ways that actually matter) and actually finishing not one both both terms (imagine that) is a bit out of Palin's league....but it is no mystery why "you people" choose not to dwell too long on that comparison.

Palin can channel RWR in speeches all day long but she can't change her record which is decidedly not comparable to his....not even close.

Well it’s nice to see the sexists out themselves.

I guess us Southern Baptist do seem sexist to some. But your problem is with God, not me. God loves women as much as he does men, but he made a role for them like he made a role for men. The basic truth is God made men and women different, deal with it. Perhaps you could protest why the lord Jesus Christ made no female apostles.

Anyhoo, enjoy your cheap shot. It was about as deep a thought as it's length of wording.

Does it bother you to lie?

Personally I look to support the best possible candidate I can find as the Lord leads me. I highly doubt KOS will come close to picking any of those I support to throw their money at.

Have a good day sir.

I am dumbstruck by your beliefs that women should be barefoot and pregnant and tied to the stove.

Wow, this is getting beyond ridicules. How in the heck is a woman suppose to take out the garbage if she is tied to the stove.

It is my understanding that the purpose of this site is not to foster debate. If I understand correctly, FR’s purpose is to advance conservative issues and candidates.

That is not what debate is about.

There can be no good faith debate about Sarah Palin here or anywhere else since liberal trolls and GOP hacks have been infiltrating and hijacking the threads ever since November 2008.

At this point, it's crush them or die.

Notice how you used the plural “Candidates” and not the singular “Candidate”? There in itself is the cause for debate. It is unavoidable.

Not is this site dedicated solely to Sarah Palin, or else it would lose about half of it's members if not more.
