Rethinking Sarah Palin For President
Irish Examiner USA ^ | 3/29/2011 | By Alicia Colon

Although I have written several columns expressing my admiration for Sarah Palin, I admit I have never taken her seriously as a 2012 presidential candidate. I've always felt that her greatest asset was as a kingmaker and behind the scenes advisor. In addition I've assumed that she wasn't that interested in pursuing the job but rather enjoyed making waves in the liberal media. The more I read the continuing attacks on Palin and her family I've started wondering why the Democrats and their media lapdogs fear her so much. Even some conservative pundits have determined that she is unelectable because of her high negatives. Those negatives are actually bogus and based on lies and misinformation and there is really only one word to describe Sarah Palin - indomitable.

Bill Maher played to the lowest common denominator and insinuated that Palin was a "dumb tw**t" and his moronic audience cheered. Ari Fleischer, a former press secretary in the George W. Bush administration, said recently that he couldn't see "any way, shape or form that [Palin] can win" the White House. Naturally there was a Public Policy poll that determined that Democratic and Independent voters would vote for Charlie Sheen over Sarah Palin. The fact that there was even such a poll should indicate the vigorous campaign to minimize her credibility as a serious candidate. Who's paying for these skewered polls anyway?

The anti-Palin campaign stretches to foreign media where Canadian TV columnist John Doyle writes in the Globe and Mail that television forever killed Palin's chances to be president. He writes: "television duly destroyed the Palin authenticity. The arc of her national political career began with a defining speech at the Republican National Convention in September, 2008,

The democrats want her marginalized at any cost.

They know that if a massive campaign war chest and social media websites can elect Obama by endlessly bashing Bush, then Sarah can be elected with the same technique bashing Obama.

You will probable find I am politically about the same as you are. Conservative Christian.

I doubt you are like us, FRiend. Your posts reveal a decided bias toward someone else, despite your proclamations. You repeated MSM/Dem talking points almost perfectly a la Coward/Piven tactics.

In case you didn't notice, there are lots of "conservative Christians" who are leading the cheering squad for Governor Palin. Also, we are gaining ground and will raise lots of dollars to defeat the Obamination currently riding high on Air Force One while dining on Waygu and lobster. She is a proven leader.

You will soon be proven wrong, no matter the length of time you have visited here. Our benevolent FR leader, Jim Thompson, has proclaimed this as Palin Country. He hasn't ruled anybody out, but we're with him about Sarah.

YMMV, but beware the backlash! DU will gladly welcome you...

Thanks again, Jim!

I would point out that second greatest leader that the United Kingdom had (in the 20th Century) was LADY Margaret Thatcher... and although she was a woman... she had bigger balls than george herbert walker bush. “Now is not the time to go wobbly on us george”.

IF she announces her candidacy, and IF she wins the primaries and IFshe is nonimated as the rino/repb/indep/conserv candidate, then I will vote for her.

However, there are some mighty big "if"s in there!!

The new meme is to declare Sarah's popularity dead and her popularity and appeal as a thing of the past by fiat.

You hit that dead in the middle. I've noticed the new journolista meme myself, it's becoming more and more obvious.

Gov. Palin's last post about energy yesterday tells me one thing. If she runs or decides not to run, she's a formidable political force for good reason.

She represents what most conservatives find admirable, the few misogynists who can't handle that should go hide somewhere else.

Cheers back.....

"I also came away with a wishful thought about how wonderful it would be for our country to be represented by such a strong, vibrant woman who clearly loves this nation. I felt the same as a teenager when John F. Kennedy emerged as a presidential candidate and the nation was overwhelmed by his youth, charisma and beautiful family."

Another reason why the DNC/Socialists fear Sarah - she connects with and can capture the independents and Reagan democrats to win Nov,2012.

And what "views" might those be, pray tell.

Sarah needs to run,and if she does this will be the way it goes down......

Sarah will win the nomination, then the MSM/Republican establishment will say Obama has just been elected to a 2nd term.

Chris Mathews, Joe Scarborough,Wolf Blitzer, NY Times,WashPost etc etc, will all be saying that Obama will not even have to campaign. Meanwhile Sarah Palin and Lou Holtz (or who ever sarah picks) will tour the country with their common sense tour.

Eventually and slowly the MSM will start to admit that it`s going to be a race after all (not that there was ever any doubt). The MSM attacks on Palin will not be enough to keep her down, enough independents will be smart enough to realize that the picture that the media had given them was false. Demonization of the Tea Party will also grow old.

Jan 20 2013 or thereabouts, Sarah Palin is inaugurated as the first woman President of the United States of America...what a day that will be

A worthy post.

If she announces her candidacy, I'll support her. If someone else comes along who I could support more, I might switch (so far, no one else comes close).

For this election, I don't intend to sit on the sidelines while the MSM attempts to decide the 2012 GOP candidate

I also came away with a wishful thought about how wonderful it would be for our country to be represented by such a strong, vibrant woman who clearly loves this nation. I felt the same as a teenager when John F. Kennedy emerged as a presidential candidate and the nation was overwhelmed by his youth, charisma and beautiful family. We knew very little then about Kennedy's negatives and if the Internet had been around in 1960, it's doubtful he would have been elected. Conversely, we know everything about Sarah Palin and despite the distortion and lies about her character, what we see is what we get and frankly that honesty is what we need right now.

Oh my this Alicia is perceptive, I haven't thought of this...

The Palin's are the Anti Kennedy's and we cannot have Camelot and Myth Destroyed by something better, especially if they are conservatives.

Think about it...

Compare Sarah's Dad to Joe Kennedy, Old Man Kennedy was IMHO an evil B@$t@rd, Sarah's dad? I'd love to listen to his quips on history and science, have him teach me how to hunt, and have a cold beer with him, end of story...

Sounds like a person much like myself that was raised where women were not to head a church and as such not often thought of as leaders in high positions of government.

Well, I guess you missed those parts of the Bible that told the stories of Deborah, Ruth, and Esther.

I just don't trust her to represent my views as well as I do some other candidates.

And who would those be?

You're right...there sure are a lot of FReepers with ancient sign-up dates running around the Palin threads recently and trashing her.

Funny thing is that I've been on about 90% of those threads for the past two years, and never have seen any of these jokers before.

Yep, just like clockwork, every two weeks or so, the Rats trot out a new line of attack after the previous one(s) fail miserably.

This week, Sarah is apparently a zombie.

I saw that. It has amazed me how hard it is to find a bad picture of her, so they photo shopped one.

If Palin is the candidate I will vote for her. I will never again vote for a GOPish RINO. The columnists can moderate and crawfish all they want, they can soften the ground with these types of editorials until midnight of election day 2012. They can regurgitate Romney or whoever the hell else they are told has a ‘chance’ of winning until they run out of zeros and ones on their hard-drives. It doesn’t matter. My rethinking on Palin is done.
