Tax the Super Rich now or face a revolution
Market Watch ^ | March 29, 2011 | Paul B. Farrell

Yes, tax the Super Rich. Tax them now. Before the other 99% rise up, trigger a new American Revolution, a meltdown and the Great Depression 2.

We know the Super Rich don’t care. Not about you. Nor the American public. They can’t see. Can’t hear. Stay trapped in their Forbes-400 bubble. An echo chamber that isolates them. They see the public as faceless workers, customers, taxpayers. See GOP power on the ascent. Reaganomics is back. Unions on the run. Clueless masses are easily manipulated.

Even Obama is secretly working with the GOP, will never touch his Super Rich donors. Yes, the Super-Rich Delusion is that powerful, infecting all America.

Here’s how one savvy insider who knows described this Super-Rich Delusion: “The top 1% live privileged lives, aren’t worried about much. Families vacation at the best resorts. Their big concerns are finding the best Pilates teacher, best masseuse, best surgeons, best private schools. They aren’t concerned with the underlying deterioration of America or the world, except in the abstract, because they aren’t directly affected by it. That’s not to say they aren’t sympathetic, aware, or don’t talk about the issues you bring up. They are largely concerned with protecting and enhancing their socio-economic positions, ensuring their families live well. And nothing you write about will change things.”

I don’t mind enclosed spaces. I wouldn’t want to live underground all the time, but I could happily sleep without outside noise.

Still gusty this morning. DP is taking Bill to look for a “longboard,” which I understand is a thing with wheels, unrelated to surfing, for his birthday.

When I was working, our offices were in an old building downtown, and we had the entire third and fourth floors. The elevator was possessed, and would jerk and shudder and finally move at a snails’ pace. I hated the darn thing.

One day, when I was coming back from lunch, I got in the elevator, pushed the button for the third floor and all the elevator did was shudder. It didn’t move. But the doors wouldn’t open, either. So I’m trying very hard to maintain control of myself, and think what to do.

Ahyes...emergency phone. I picked it up, dialed the number posted and got a recording: We can’t come to the phone right now....

I climbed the stairs from then until we moved into a newer building.

Oy! I hate elevators. I’ve always had a fear of getting stuck in one, and will often take the stairs. Did I mention I’m also afraid of heights? :)

It’s hard to get a baby stroller up stairs.

I’ve always thought it’d be neat to build a house back into a cliff face or mountain-side. Have a sun-room, office space, and dining areas where they can get sun. Workout rooms, storage, indoor firing range, vehicle storage, etc... built back into the rock.

Inflatable buildings been around a while. Now if they cold just do that with airplanes -- I received a 737-300 warning from corporate travel services. But I'll be on an airline that isn't using those much, and not on the routes I'm on this month.

It is Expense Report Day -- gotta clear out all those company card transactions.

Our power has been out. It first went out 24hrs ago and was out for most of that day. It came back on then went out this morning. Just came back on. Rock slide took out the power polls.

Charlotte had 90 mph winds last night. There was lots of damage, trees down, power out. My husband and son could not get to the skateboard shop because the highway was closed.

"Our power has been out. It first went out 24hrs ago and was out for most of that day."

Two things I need, coffee and my internet connection.

As long as I have that, I can face the rest of it.

"You can put your cup under mine too. I have leftovers."

The Glass Half Full

Each of us is a vessel,
Upwelling with life and with joy.
In childhood you see this bubblingness,
So delightful in each girl and boy.

Somewhere someone noticed,
Philosopher type, I would guess,
That some of us see a glass half full,
And some of us see it as less.

We've noticed that life can be short, sometimes,
We're hurt if it happens to be,
But it's only the vessel that comes up short,
The life is unending, you see.

We slake our thirst from a fountain,
That flows for all of our days,
And none of us ever is half filled up,
Our cup runneth over always.

The glass is half full because it ate all my neighbors.
I think it is coming for me next.
The glass is mad science badness in a dainty little package.

Glasses, not so much.
