Rep. Anthony Weiner, the self-appointed scourge of diplomatic scofflaws in Manhattan, has racked up more than $2,000 in unpaid parking tickets around Capitol Hill.
From 2007 to March of this year, Weiner's ticket total was 2,180 for violations near the Capitol and at Reagan Washington National Airport, Roll Call, the Capitol Hill newspaper, reported Tuesday.
A Weiner spokesman said all of the fees have since been paid. Aides to the Queens Democrat claim that part of the problem may have that D.C. sent notices to a bad address.
But Weiner "is pleased to have helped decrease the D.C. budget deficit," the spokesman told Roll Call.
Weiner has raged against foreign dignitaries who ignore New York City's traffic rules, and last year introduced a bill seeking to get $18 million in unpaid parking tickets from 180 nations for the city.
"It's insulting to all New Yorkers that countries like Yemen, Zimbabwe and Iran owe the city millions in unpaid parking tickets," Weiner said.
"Diplomats park illegally, ignore paying their parking tickets and expect New Yorkers to pick up the tab. This needs to end," he added.
A Roll Call survey showed that lawmakers in Washington had at least $15,000 in unpaid parking tickets and moving violations.

My question, parking tickets or no, would be if the Congressman has `natural casing`...

Paste-eating pencil neck geek using the "old address" excuse.
Meter maids still put the tickets on car windows in D.C. I trust? If so, he knew damn well he/his staff received parking tickets.

Aides to the Queens Democrat claim that part of the problem may have that D.C. sent notices to a bad address. Isnt that just a bunch of crap! I'm pretty sure he received a ticket on his windshield and then threw it out. The subsequent notice (to a bad address!?) would have been for the purpose of the non payment of the ticket on the windshield.

Yep, that is really a lame excuse. He figured no one would dare push for payment of a few parking tickets for Congressman Weiner.

Anthony Weiner is another in a long list that demonstrates the wisdom of Mark Twain.
It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress.

Gosh, getting parking tickets around Capitol Hill? I've never heard of any members of Congress complaining of inadequate parking facilities there.
Wonder if the $2,000 used to pay Weiner's parking tickets came out of a congressional appropriation - or unused funds in his campaign war chest?

Why doesn’t the weenie get his sharmuta Saudi wife to pay them for him?
