Kindergarten was a turn of the century German invention for precisely that purpose. It was invented to mold children the way the state wanted them molded. Then, it was German socialist nationalism; long predating the Nazis. Now it’s a ludicrous anti-American, anti-God, pro-sexual deviancy, pro-vegetation, global warming…etc., etc., etc.

The first thing the schools do is get the children to disobey their parents. They'll get them to share hair brushes, or put plastic bags over their heads for an "art project." They'll teach them various religions and rituals (leaving out Christianity). This "parents are silly" crap starts in kindergarten.
This is why they have day care, pre-pre- school (head start), pre-school, all day kindergarten, before school projects, after school projects, week end projects, and summer school. They need to get the kids away from their parents and their parents care as much as possible.
They have doctors, psychiatrists, dentists, social workers, and they feed the children all their meals. That way, the family is no longer necessary. Remember - "It takes a village (not parents) to raise a child."

Woman's liberation had nothing to do with woman. In fact, the woman is now twice as enslaved as she used to be. She barely has time to care for herself. The goal was to get "mommy" out of the picture with the lure of total freedom and a lot of spending money. The woman today have neither. In fact, now they work two jobs (career and mother), and are often divorced and forced to do it all alone. Today, stay home moms have it made.

I can only hope that by the time my last two kids reach the third grade our town will have dispensed with this nonsense. But that is unlikely.

It's very odd that the author doesn't even consider private education for her children as a possibility. Perhaps she thinks a deliberate attempt to corrupt her children's morals and destroy her family relationships is just a minor nuisance, rather than something requiring serious action on her part.

Isn't this why Horace Mann pushed the notion of compulsory education from the start? He wanted kids from all backgrounds, to make them all 'equal', and to give them a non-sectarian education. He was looking to drum out any notions that their religious parents might be trying to place in their heads, and in fact, he was opposed by parents who didn't like the idea of teachers and bureaucrats taking over any moral instruction of their children.
