CNN/U.S. President Jon Klein told staffers of "Lou Dobbs Tonight" the controversy over President Barack Obama's birth certificate is a "dead story."
Klein wrote in an e-mail to staffers Thursday that CNN researchers had determined Hawaiian officials discarded paper birth documents in 2001. Thus, he said, Obama's long-form birth certificate no longer exists, and a shorter certificate that is public is the official record.
"It seems to definitively answer the question," Klein wrote in the e-mail, first reported by the Web site TVNewser. "Since the show's mission is for Lou to be the explainer and enlightener, he should be sure to cite this during your segment tonite (sic). And then it seems this story is dead -- because anyone who still is not convinced doesn't really have a legitimate beef."
Klein said Friday he was not ordering CNN staffers to drop the story and that if developments merited more coverage, it would be pursued, the Los Angeles Times reported.
"When I use the word 'seems,' that's an open invitation to disagree," Klein told the Times.
On his show Thursday, Dobbs mentioned the explanation from Hawaiian officials but then questioned why Obama has not shown a long-form birth certificate, the newspaper said.
Gosh, I am sure glad this has been figured out. OK, then. Everybody back to work. This is over.

I am sorry I tried to write birthers and somehow my phone spell check changed it to Northwest.
I can Bushpilot1 report. I did request a copy of my Long form. I wanted to prove that not only do the originals still exist (I was born in 69 at Kaiser Hospital), but that copies could be obtained. I was seeking the document for a real purpose as well, but thats not relevant to this discussion.
My first request was done in March of 2010. By mid April I had gotten no copy, in fact there was not a peep from the State of Hawaii. However, my Dad was in the final stages of a losing battle with cancer, so I wasn’t to focused on anything but him and my family.
By Mid August after my Dad passed in June, I was ready to take it up again, and called the HDOH. They could not find my request. 10 bucks gone. Ok, fine, so I sent another one - which included a photo copy of my Oregon Driver’s license and my Passport and another western Union check for 10 buck, and I sent it Return Reciept Requested so that I could PROVE it was received by HDOH. 3 weeks pass and nothing so I call the office, and again they can’t find it, though I followed the specific instructions I was given to send it attention to Dr. Onaka himself they couldnlt find it. So like the obstinate chick I am I demanded to speak to a supervisor.
Eventually I was passed along to Dr. Onaka’s secretary who finally found my request in a “Stack” of such requests that Dr. Onaka had not dealt with. I was informed that the Dr. was out of the state until next week, and that I had to wait until she could speak to him before honoring my request. This despite the fact that the HDOH is REQUIRED BY LAW to make these documents available upon request from anyone with genuine interests in them.
I was told he would be back the following Monday. So I made the call at about 4PM Pacific time and spoke to Onaka’s secretary again. She put me on hold to go ask Onaka if she could release the document.
Low and behold, on the phone comes Onaka. I was not expecting that. He asked me why I wanted it, which he is not legally allowed to base his decision on. I told him. He then asked me if I needed a Certified Copy or not. I answered honestly that I didn’t know. In reality as far as FR is concerned, I just wanted to prove that 1) the actual original record still existed, and 2) that I could get a copy of it. Onaka revealed that I could also get a CERTIFIED copy by asking me if that is what I wanted.
I further asked Onaka if the Originals were even kept, because he actually tried to talk me into believing that all they offered was the laser printed COLB’s! I said no, I needed the Original because I needed the specific information on it for geneological reasons, which was my main purpose. A COLB does NOT suffice for all purposes, and he knew it. He asked me for the name of the organization I was requesting it for, along with the phone number and address. I gave him those, and he told me he would be calling them to check, and that he would call me back. Well he never called me back, but I did get the copy of my Original Certificate of Live Birth, signed by the Dr. and my mother a couple of days later. It matches what I already have, and in fact has more information on it that the copy I myself had.
That whole CNN story is bullsh!t from start to finish.
For CNN it’s been a ‘dead story’ since day one. That would NOT have been the case if this had been about George Bush...

Interesting that the president of CNN, is telling researchers the detailed facts of a situation.
Can we see klein’s sources, methods, and work papers?

Not correct. I’m a RN. We have many foreign nurses working at my hospital and they all have state drivers licenses. They are very easy to get. I’m sure documentation is required, but of course not a US BC.
Veyr interesting. As Stanley Armour Dunham’s 15th cousin, Ms. Nordyke has the right under Hawaii law to look at any birth documents relating to his children or grandchildren. Unfortunately, from what I understand, 5th and 6th cousins have already been denied access to the records by the lawless scum working for the state of Hawaii.
Obama uses the SS # of dead people. Quite fitting.
In addition, on the day after the presidential election in 2008, the Kenyan ambassador to the United States, in an interview on a Detroit radio station, stated the same.
That really ticks me off.
My nephew had to provide a birth certificate to get his DL. But the man ahead of us, who had a small child speak English for him, received a DL without providing anything, period. Not even a green card!
Yes, it's just a lie to obfuscate the fact that there is long form Hawaiian BC for Barack Obama in Hawaii's files - as stated by a gutsy former Hawaii Health Department supervisor. It's not because all such forms from 1961 were destroyed, it's because Obama was not born in Hawaii.
