Whether they realize it or not Americans live in a constant state of fear every day. Im not referring to the fears of everyday life like losing a job or having an accident of some kind, but rather a more sinister and devious fear; a fear that Americans only dare talk about around the water cooler or at cocktail parties so as not to be taken seriously; a fear they try to mask with a with a whimsical tone of sarcasm or indifference. Whether Americans want to admit it or not, its the single greatest fear in their lives: fear of the government.
Right about now there are those reading this thinking: Don Cooper is a drunk. To which I reply: whats that got to do with it? Maybe more people should drink if thats what it takes to sober up and confront what they are really afraid of.
In their defense, Ill admit that reality is scary. No argument that living in delusion is warmer, safer, cozier, and easier. Pretending is always more fun than reality, thats why we go to the movies. But fear of the government is a fear that invades a persons soul and since the government intervenes in every aspect of our lives it affects every move we make every day.
Fear of the government is hard to recognize and acknowledge. Its a fear that we are taught early on in life and to which we become accustomed. We inevitably end up tucking it away in the far reaches of our minds in order to function normally every day and live our lives. But just as a car backfiring will trigger a sense of fear from a shell-shocked veteran, so too can the State trigger that

Live with awareness and preparation so you don’t have room for fear.
I understand the article completely. I guess it is a “Love my Country, fear my government” type thing. Every day, I notice more and more ways to take away our individual freedoms. Add that to the “I don’t see anything wrong” philosophy concerning illegal immigration, rising gas prices/food prices/everything in the world prices... yep, I’m afraid. Informed but afraid. Just a thought.
Exactly. It's tremendously liberating.
"Today is a good day to die. But I didn't say for whom."
Last night when my husband and I were out to dinner with our son, I asked him what his favorite thing to play at recess was. This brought a memory to my husband’s mind of playing a game called “Smear the Queer” when he was our son’s age and how no one thought anything of it.
Not that I like mean kids, but I thought, wow, a time when it was ok for people to acknowledge what so many rightly feel, that it is not natural or good to be gay. A time when playing that kind of game wouldn’t land a kid in re-education and hot water. I thought how sad it is that the whole nation is often too intimidated to say what they really think and live in fear of the reaction if they were to even say that simple opinion aloud.
Needless to say, my husband and I felt the need to whisper our observations because we were in public.
Not fear of government...
Fear of THIS government.
What a coincidence, aFReeper was just saying...

Few are speaking this truth, but I’m sure it is foremost in many, many minds daily!
I certainly do not trust our government to protect me or any other woman against the creeping radical Islamization of our country.
It seems that liberals have blinders on when it comes to the so-called “Religion of Peace.” It is simply not politically correct to state the obvious - that Islam is a threat to women everywhere on earth!
Government is nothing more than a group of people who have been trusted with power and authority.
In the current era the problem is simply this:
The kind of people who desire powerful or influential government positions are almost always the kind of people who can never be trusted with power, authority, or the tax money taken from others.
They are not motivated by a desire to serve America and to further the interests of the nation and all citizens.
Rather, they are motivated by a desire to use a position in government to further their own agenda, their own philosophy, and to benefit the interests of their own circle and their own financial backers.
Q: How can you square an IRS, an agency that makes the old KGB look like the PTA, with a free people?
A: You can't! Repeal the Sixteenth Amendment and watch fear abate (fewer "wars" as well).
If children attend government schools that are socialist funded, compulsory by means of police threat, and collectivist managed by voting mobs ( school boards), they will learn that government has **enormous** power over their lives. Gradually they become comfortable with government, socialism, collectivism, and voting mobs controlling their lives and "correct thinking".
At the end of the day, all government mandates are enforced at the end of the barrel of a gun, and that scares the hell out of everyone, as it should.
Even the youngest children in our government indoctrination centers soon learn that behind every government school teacher and principal stands an armed policeman.
Where I grew up “Smear the Queer” was just “Kill the Carrier” played without a ball. Usually the biggest guy called out who was the “queer” and took the lead in chasing and tackling. Makes me wonder now who indeed was the ‘queer’.
I don’t fear the government. The government is fine. It’s the usurper and his commie buddies who are very frightening.
re: “Even the youngest children in our government indoctrination centers soon learn that behind every government school teacher and principal stands an armed policeman.”
I wish this were true! In my experience, the students I have in the public school have NO FEAR of teachers or principals.
On a related issue, if the public schools are what is teaching us to be fearful of the government - isn’t that a good thing? I thought you would be promoting the idea that public schools promote the opposite - not fearing the government - wouldn’t that be more sinister?
Also, you’re saying we fear the government, not because of the IRS, activist judicial rulings, anti-gun laws, censorship of politically incorrect language, the EPA, etc - but because of public schools!!?? I don’t think so.
AMERICA FIRST.
Every day.
No less.
Always. STOP SELLING OUT OUR NATION!
You honestly wish that students would learn that behind every teacher and principal in a government school stands an armed policeman.
It is through fear of police that you wish to teach.
Three of my children were homeschooled. Honestly, I couldn't have kept them from learning if I tried. Beyond basic literacy and arithmetic they taught themselves ( until they entered college at the ages of 13, 12, and 13.)
My wife and I are thinking about taking our daughters out of public school and homeschooling.
