Spend trillions now, and world temperatures might fall in 1,000 years

Even if every country in the world adopts economy-killing carbon caps, they’ll have to wait about 1,000 years for global temperatures to fall, says Australia’s newly appointed climate commissioner.

Tim Flannery, a zoologist and author of an acclaimed 2005 book on climage change, “The Weather Makers,” compares skeptics of global warming to “flat Earth believers.” But he made a point that most global warming alarmists gloss over when he threw down this lightning bolt in an interview with Macquarie Radio’s Andrew Bolt:

“If we cut emissions today, global temperatures are not likely to drop for about a thousand years.”

That’s not just in Australia, mind you. That’s cutting emissions worldwide.

Under continued questioning by Bolt, Flannery said: “Just let me finish and say this: If the world as a whole cut all emissions tomorrow the average temperature of the planet is not going to drop in several hundred years, perhaps as much as a thousand years because the system is overburdened with CO2 that has to be absorbed and that only happens slowly.”

Ironically stopping CO2 emissions now would result in an immediate drop in CO2 (the natural sinks absorb much more than the natural sources put out). In about 40 years the “excess” CO2 that we have created would be cut in half. Even more ironically, this drop would not affect temperature so Flannery in all his wrongness might actually be right, but only by accident (natural forces will determine temperature and they may or may not cause it to drop now or a thousand years from now).

Tim Flannery, a zoologist

I'm glad he has an opinion on climate change, but why do monkeys fling poop and can the government do something about it?

My God man, can you just imagine what would happen however if we DON'T spend trillions now??? ~

No action now could mean certain death in a few thousand years!

... or temperatures might not fall depending on a myriad of other climatic variables, but guaranteed that individual freedom and prosperity will decline for all but the political elites.

“If we cut emissions today, global temperatures are not likely to drop for about a thousand years.”

If we do nothing global temperatures are not likely to drop for about a thousand years.

Nothing man does or does not do will effect the overall climate of this rock. These enviro-weenies need to get that through their thick skulls.

Worse still is that we spend years, billions of dollars and crpple our economies for some minescles reduction in CO2 only to have some volcano eruption wipe out that reduction in one afternoon. Kind of like reducing sea levels with a bucket.

Unless, we put another several trillion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, I will guarantee an ice age in the next 20,000 years. To further my prognostication ability, I will predict the end of the universe in the next half a google years.

Or we could spend nothing and temperatures could fall in 1000 years. Or temperatures could go up in 1000 years. Or... oh nevermind. This is all insanity anyway.

This prediction from the same nimrods that can't predict if it will rain next week and can barely predict whether it will be warm in the summer and cold in the winter.
