You dont say! This must come as quite a shock to certain experts who assured us that the Ikhwan was a mostly secular movement. Even some hard-nosed realists might find themselves a bit surprised at how quickly the nature of the Egyptian revolution changed after Hosni Mubarak fled:
In post-revolutionary Egypt, where hope and confusion collide in the daily struggle to build a new nation, religion has emerged as a powerful political force, following an uprising that was based on secular ideals. The Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist group once banned by the state, is at the forefront, transformed into a tacit partner with the military government that many fear will thwart fundamental changes.
It is also clear that the young, educated secular activists who initially propelled the nonideological revolution are no longer the driving political force at least not at the moment.
As the best organized and most extensive opposition movement in Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood was expected to have an edge in the contest for influence. But what surprises many is its link to a military that vilified it.

No!
You mean Muslim extremists have taken advantage of the chaos?
But DailyKos told me this wouldn’t happen!
Whats the % of Mid-Eastern Muslims who hate us? 50? 60? And the rest are too afraid to say anything for fear of execution by granite.
Why are we not distancing ourselves from every Musl!m country in the world makes absolutely no sense to me.
Can’t be. The administration told us they were secular. I saw it on You Tube.
No worries, we were reassured the Muslim Brotherhood is a largely secular organization.
Can we turn off the money spigot now?
I’m as shocked as a virgin in church.
NOBODY EXPECTS THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD!
Right?
I mean... am I having a bona fide, 1950s, "no sh*t Sherlock" moment?
Anyone that didn’t predict or see this coming is a fool. Same for the rest of that region, except for maybe Syria and even that’s questionable.
This is so pathetically stupid and delusional, it can't even be called wrong.
So much for the “Facebook Revolution.”
Oh, no, I'm sure there were some -- maybe even a lot of them. Just like there were in the Russian revolution.
The problem is that where revolutions are concerned, nice people with laudable motives are rarely a match for an organized group that is unafraid to use violence to achieve its goals.
“we would be the largest Muslim nation on earth” Barack 0bama, 2009.
Remember?
Remember that phrase.
If the USofA will exist by then, after all the political refugees and illegal aliens swarming the border....
Well, I'm sooooo surprised they got this wrong...too.
I am glad the CIA saw this before all of us.No?
I’m shocked! Shocked!
And I’m sure obastard NEVER intended for this to happen. No way did he want his homies taking over. No way.
Yeh, trying hard to see how we are not in the beginning days of WW3.
