Op-Ed: Obama Hiding True Motives for War From American People
Fox Nation ^ | March 22, 2011 | Stanley Kurtz

Posted on 03/25/2011 5:29:07 AM PDT by opentalk

Obama doesn’t tell you what he’s thinking. He keeps his motives to himself. Cherished long-term ideological goals are advanced as pragmatic fixes to concrete problems in the present. Now we’re seeing the familiar domestic pattern in foreign policy as well.

Few Americans realize that Obama has had a longstanding interest in multilateral efforts to combat war crimes and genocide. Obama would like to see a more constraining international legal regime on war crimes, even at the cost of national sovereignty, not to mention the blood and treasure of the countries doing the enforcing. In general, Obama has said little about his larger foreign policy goals.

...In 2005, Obama contacted Power after reading her book on genocide. There followed a long conversation, after which Power left Harvard to work for Obama, quic‘kly emerging as his senior foreign policy advisor.

...Most of the commentary on Libya has focused on the tension between Obama’s apparent desire to displaceQaddafi and his reluctance to admit to it. But the chief reason for this intervention is the one that’s staring us in the face. Obama dithered when it was simply a matter of replacing Qaddafi, yet quickly acted when slaughter in Benghazi became the issue. What Samantha Power and her supporters want is to solidify the principle of “responsibility to protect” in international law. That requires a “pure” case of intervention on humanitarian grounds. Power’s agenda would explain why Obama acted when he acted, and why the public rationale for action has not included regime change.

Yet Obama has so far been reluctant to fully explain any of this to either Congress or the American public, perhaps because he realizes that the ideological basis of his actions would not be popular if openly admitted.

It has begun

Are we sure those 4,000 US marines headed to the Med are going to Libya?

a side issue in this discussion

Actually I do not believe it is a side issue. Anytime the constitutionality of any act is brought up I shake my head in disgust.

Unless or until the poe soiling the WH is deemed constitutionally eligible we are not a functioning Constitutional Republic, governed by the rule of law. IOW, the constitution is dead...burned, shredded and its ashes blown into the wind on 1-20-09.

Remove the 800 pound gorilla in the room or nothing else is relevant.

then you keep petitioning your congressman to remove obama because of his birth

and I will petition mine to control or impeach him because of the lunacy of his policies to US inteersts

let’s see which approach works better and faster

IMO, Barry doesn't care about being a "leader." He doesn't care what people think...it's his agenda that matters. If he can go on vacation and play golf when he wants, he is perfectly happy to leave the dirty work to the underlings he has in the WH...who have written books on acheiving the New World Order.

Beck tied the dots on most of this yesterday. The woman who wrote the book mentioned in this article is married to Cass Sustine. (sp?) He's the one who thinks animals should have the right to sue their owners. Both came from Harvard. Soros is funding the group to put her theories into action and it involves Isreal and Palestinians. I probably have some of this screwed up but the point is, they know what they are doing...and don't want us to know.

We keep comparing Barry to the American presidents of the past and this imposter is a whole new breed that we can't even comprehend, IMO.

I also think the lazy MSM don't have a grasp on what they are NOT covering and what a mess we're in. I don't think he should be impeached...I think he should be arrested and tried in court for trying to overthrow our government.

In 2012, we can go to our polling places in fire houses and schools and community centers, and we can overthrow the Obama government.

Meanwhile, to stop the madness of his ruinous policies, we must insist that our Congress act, and critically evaluate Obama’s competence to hold the power he holds, and strip him of it by impeachment if necessary

************************************************************

Couldn’t agree more. Throw the Obama regime out AND whichever Congress creatures who are either aiding and abetting him OR are not actively working against his ruiness agenda, even if they are on the Right.

"One man's Kinetic Military Action is another man's Man-Caused Disaster"

Kind of makes one nostalgic for the days when the Newspeak included, "pre-dawn vertical insertion." At least that one had a bit of humor to it.

we actually have the president of the United States running around using someone else’s social security number. That is illegal.

It is only illegal if legitimate, law abiding, US citizens do it. If illegal alien invaders or Barry do it, it is a constitutionally protected right, doncha know.

One of my favorite quotes:
"Only in America can a man who doesn’t exist grow up to be President." -- Judi McCloud, Canada Free Press

*sigh* Neither approach will work and I think you and I both know that.

Seriously not trying to pick a fight here. The entire matter is quite simply disgusting and very upsetting to me. I have had to take frequent long term breaks from politics and political discussion over the past 3 years. It is about time for another.

Obama’s purpose in going to war with Libya is to replace an insane Moslem despot who is contained with insane radical Moslem fanatics bent on world conquest.

His goal is the destruction of America and western civilization through his religion, Islam.

Outstanding post, lonestar. Thank you!

He doesn't care what people think...it's his agenda that matters.

Just exactly right which is the reason he appeared from nowhere with no history -- as “melancholy” says -- a ghost who meteorically rises to the top of the world. Looking at who put him there and how he got there is the key. He is a plant, in more ways than one.

Obmam's team of foreign policy advisers are very anti-Israel.

Samantha Power and Obama's Foreign Policy Team

...The problem for those who favor a strong US-Israel relationship is that Power seems obsessed with Israel, and in a negative way.

..Power's views on the problems caused by the US-Israel relationship also place her in the same camp as Zbigniew Brzezinski and George Soros (an influential supporter of Barack Obama's), who also oppose the so-called "Israel lobby" and reject the participation of American supporters of Israel, including Christians, in the foreign policy discussion. Power writes of her willingness to

"alienat[e] a domestic constituency of tremendous political and financial import; it may more crucially mean sacrificing...billions of dollars, not in servicing Israel's military, but actually investing in the state of Palestine."

...Power appears to support slashing, if not eliminating, military aid to our ally (surrounded by 300 million people who wish to destroy her) and giving it to the Palestinians, whose charters (whether the Hamas or Fatah version) advocate the destruction of Israel. ...

“The American people need to destroy the MSM.”

I hear you, any suggestions? Just turning off the TV doesn’t work, what can be done by us Freepers? The MSM will be the death of America, not communism, not islam.

The president is the Commander-in-Chief and he can use the military as he sees fit. The Constitution says so.

Where was that rule from 2001-2008?

Suggestions? Yeah. Pic the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it.

Rule 13 in Rules for Radicals.

We are still fighting a conventional war while the left is using guerilla tactics.

Okay. But HE, Barack Hussein Obama, once stated the following (and he is, after all, a ‘Constitutional Scholar’):

“The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation”

-—Barack Hussein Obama, December 20, 2007

So what should we make of that? Are his 2011 actions, which differ so much from his 2007 words, just part of the “change we can believe in”?

What do we make of a statement he made in 2007? Nothing, he is a liar and will say anything at all for politcal expediency.

It’s merely one more outrageous lie and example of hypocrisy to be added to the many others. Either americans wake up to what they have done or they and the rest of us are forever screwed.

I live in a small community outside of Houston, for the past 8 years. Since I’ve been there, I’ve voted in one place, and one place one.

The Baptist church.

I hope that drives the loons on the left absolutely wild.
