Obama locked out of Oval Office By Daniel Strauss - 03/24/11 10:36 AM ET

President Obama had some unexpected trouble at the White House on Wednesday: He couldn't get into the Oval Office.

After returning from a five-day trip to Latin America, President Obama returned to the White House to find that some of the doors to the Oval Office were locked tight.

Staff at the White House appeared not to have known that the the president had returned early from his trip and hadn't unlocked the doors, according to an ABC News affiliate in Washington.

Obama handled the setback coolly, however, and simply tried another pair of doors, which were unlocked.

In 2009, while responding to a question about the controversial arrest of Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., President Obama joked about getting locked out of the White House. Gates was arrested after he forgot the keys to his home and tried to break in.

"I mean, if I was trying to jigger into — well, I guess this is my house now so — it probably wouldn't happen. But let's say my old house in Chicago. Here [at the White House], I'd get shot," Obama joked.

A fitting metaphor to his entire administration.

The press is so annoying sometimes.

So he wasn’t ‘locked out’... Geez, what a misleading article.

I mean, gosh, I feel sorry for the poor guy having to walk around to another door to get into his office...

I wish we could permanently lock him out and set his junk by the curb.

He isn’t home. His home is in Chicago and I can’t wait for him to go home.

There is a doorman’s union ya know. A friend of mine’s dad was a doorman in the 60’s thru the early 80’s until he retired. (Retired in Miami FL) He worked three different places in Manhattan. He made about $50,000 per year in the early 80’s. My opinion is that they can extort pay based on not telling about their clients. Boy he had some stories!

I would have enjoyed being a fly on the wall of Barrys stomach lining when he found the doors locked. Tell me he didn't - just for a moment - have a . .

"Uh oh, busted!" moment
