LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Gwen Stefani donated $1,000,000 on Wednesday to Save the Children's Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund to help in the relief and recovery effort.
"I've been inspired by Japan for many years and have a true love, appreciation and respect for the Japanese people and their culture," the singer said in a statement.
"The disaster in Japan is beyond heartbreaking and I want to do anything I can to help. I would never be able to make a gesture like this without the love and support of all the fans over all these years," Stefani added.
A limited edition Harajuku Lovers T-shirt designed by Stefani will be available next week through www.nodoubt.com, with all proceeds going to the relief efforts in Japan.
A charity auction is also being organized where fans can bid on the chance to join the singer at a special fundraiser in Los Angeles.

Good to see a celebrity put their money where their mouth is. Back in the day I was a fan of the band No Doubt and I've always been a fan of Gwen Stefani. She seems like one of the more 'normal' celebrities. And one celeb who, by all accounts, doesn't outsource the raising of her children to others.

Gwen Stefani is that rare example of a female vocalist who appears to both likable and psychologically stable.

I saw No Doubt at Nissan Pavilion (VA) a few years ago, and was totally impressed. She put forth more energy into the show than I have ever seen (and this 63 yr old has seen many greats). She's a woman in a girl's body (though with her own now) and still gives 100%. This move is no surprise!

What a beautiful pic. She really has some cute kids. I believe she and her hubby Gavin Rossdale have been together since the mid 90s. Most celebrities are divorced before the ink on their marriage license is dry.

I always loved No Doubt and Stefani seemed very mature as a married woman with a young child. None of that Britney drama.

You make me ashamed that I only came here to say that she must still be carrying a torch for that Asian guy in her band.
So I won't mention it.

Gwen Stefani is the anti-Madonna. Similar looking, so much more class.

I'm sure she's a libtard (what celebrities aren't?) but when has she trashed the GOP before?

Just playing the odds. Nothing personal against Ms Stefani who I commend for the generous donation.

Yes, and she actually really did sing at her Super Bowl performance several years ago instead of just acting like it, and she actually really did sing really well. She’s good in her style.

Thanks very much. I’ve heard this great song many times and didn’t even realize she did it. I only know about 3 or 4 of her songs and 2 I linked.
HOORAY Gwen!
