The title is completely wrong. The Feds convicted this man of a trumped up charge of "Domestic Terrorism" for trying to undermine the US currency by using real silver. This was discussed at length on the Rusty Humphries show, yesterday.

It is stunning what our government will now accuse you of to shut you down and send a message.

If it didn't say "legal tender", then it isn't counterfeit anything.

Barter is now a felony...

real silver and real gold ARE legal tender, aren't they?

Have you ever seen a US coin that said NORFED with a phone number on it??

How is that "similar" to a real coin?

Apparently the crime is the resemblance to US currency.

We now have counterfeit $10 bills in this area. No joke.

He didn’t distribute fake legal tender, and he certainly didn’t distribute ‘currency’.

He distributed SILVER. Silver is PURE MONEY, it is not currency. His silver rounds are worth (much) more than they were when first created. You can’t say that for a dollar bill.

The Fed are doing all this so that they could steal his silver. They’re already moving to confiscate it.

This is the guy that was behind the liberty dollar.

The government has to protect its investment I guess. But wow I can’t believe they got him on terrorism. And he was convicted? What are juries thinking when they rule like this?

Von NotHaus developed the liberty dollar in 1998 as an "inflation-proof" alternative currency to the U.S. dollar

Liberty coins were marked with the dollar sign; the words "dollar," "USA," "Liberty," "Trust in God" (instead of "In God We Trust"); and other features associated with legitimate U.S. coins.

So the question is, was he promoting it as an Alternative Currency?

Since we started colorizing our currency, can we go after Canada for counterfeiting as well? After all, it’s paper and coinage that now looks similar to ours.

It occurred to me the other day that it’s ALL counterfeit - every bit of it that doesn’t have intrinsic value.

If you accept a bill without checking it, you’re accepting it on the assumption that the next guy will accept it from you. This is the same whether Joe Bloe prints it or the federal reserve.

It would be nice if our media would report what the actual CRIME for which he was convicted. I have read several reports and all I’ve seen is “conspiracy against the US government.”.

Yes I did see the quote from the federal attorney about “terrorism” but was that really the crime? What statute was violated?

It sounds like questioning the value of our paper money is a crime now. A sure sign of a tyrannical government is one that forces you to use its currency and makes it a crime to question its value.

“Domestic Terrorism” charges are ridiculous. The counterfiet charges are valid however.

I saw a photo of the coin and it looks like something the mint would issue. It is something that could fool most of the public.

What are juries thinking when they rule like this?

Yes I would love to see the make-up of that jury. Was it local to NC? I'm drawing an unpleasant conclusion based on the demographics of that state.

I'd also like to read the judge's instruction to the jury.

Federal Reserve Notes are debt based, so in a sense... the "commodity" backing our currency is the solvency of the US as a Nation.

A solvency that no longer exists.

This makes an alternative barter method a serious threat to the controlling central government.

You saw a picture of a round, not a coin (a coin is a silver round that is also legal tender).

Here the round’s real value is greater than the face value of the coin it is alleged to emulate. And don’t the Fed know it.
