Alexandra Wallace, the southern California undergraduate who apologized for her recent YouTube rant about the hordes of Asian people that UCLA accepts into our school every single year, said Friday that she will no longer be attending classes at UCLA. In a statement to the college newspaper, The Daily Bruin, Wallace said, the harassment of my family, the publishing of my personal information, death threats and being ostracized from an entire community has caused her to leave the university.

Well, I attended UCLA’s MBA access program a year ago to qualify for this year’s fall program (USC is too damn expensive) and one cannot exactly blanket the Asians as “bright”.
They are mostly introverted. The Chinese and Koreans are outgoing, the Japanese keep to themselves silently, Singaporeans are talkative. The Filipinos on the other hand, even though my bro is married to one, are socialists at heart. But if I ever started a business from scratch, the Japanese are probably the best to consult. You just have to convince them to speak up more.
Hell, let her say what she wants. The objections made it more than clear the vast majority of people out there disagreed with her.
I just find it interesting, the tone of her rant. Who could possibly want more kids that apply themselves, study hard, and make excellent grades in a major university setting.
Enough of that! /s
Foreign (International) students have to pay tuition fees that’s more that what in-state students have to pay, unless they’ve received financial scholarships. Universities specifically break down the fee structure based on the above categorisation.
I have a hunch that since her Youtube rant went viral, the death threats are coming from places far removed from UCLA. Thus, one of the downsides to posting oneself on the web for the world to see. Pandora’s Box for sure.
Well, FWIW, I had several Asian students as PhD candidates in NYC, fresh from mainland China, Taiwan, and South Korea. Yes, they had some problems with writing in English, but actually so do many of our American students, who were miseducated in the public school system.
They were all different as individuals, of course, but they did very well, worked hard, and had no more problems with English than American students—just different problems, like how and when to use the definite article.
And they all came in with high SAT and GRE scores.
Pretty much all the chinese coming to the West are going to be in the upper 1% of chinese in terms of intelligence.
the dummies come later
that’s the way it works.
Oh, that’s surprising. I wonder how they composed their thesis dissertations and exams.
At least now she has an interesting story to tell on her next college application.
You should have seen the thread about this over at DU. It was literally vomit inducing.
I saw the original video.
She was commenting in a not so politically correct way on how Asian students act uncouthly in this country. For example, like how Asian students have no respect for the sanctity of a public library by yapping on their cell phones.
The fact is she was right.
There are many people from all over the world who come to this country and act like they own it and bring their barbaric ways with them.
You will find much more egregious racism in Asian countries, where American students don’t get any of their top spots in their universities, than you will find in the US.
“... are very recent immigrants and they have not paid much in the way of taxes...”
Would they also not support illegals paying in state tuition? Perhaps not all minorities are equal.
Asian-Americans or Asian-Asians?
Asian-Americans or Asian-Asians?
I mean -- born here or born there?
Maybe because the people making the threats against her are oppressed minorities, who are a protected class in the Holder Justice Dept.
They’re bright, but their large numbers at UC are creating a problem; UC draws from a state tax base under the premise that they create an affordable way to get a GOOD degree.
If accepted, real Asian students from abroad pay FAAAAR and above what a native Californian pays, if accepted.
For this reason, it’s best for the parasitic UC (and CSU) system to suck off of a hostage populus, but then also turn around and market itself to rapidly growing Asian economies —they make big, big money this way, and their own kids are not subject to the same entrance criteria that the kids of the unwashed tax-base schmucko’s out there.
Think carefully; is Hong Kong a place with a sharp demand for Universities? Yes? Are they THERE? No, they are not there in Hong Kong, or even very much in Taiwan.
Why?
That is because the public, “University OF California” [sic] and elsewhere in the USA very neatly, very **lucratively** chose to fill that role, AND THEY ARE HAPPY TO.
The most lucrative thing for UC is to TALK public, but then ACT private —THAT is the force that is permitting inflation in higher education.
And that inflation is far, far higher than for the REAL private sector, something they relish to lambaste as “greedy”.
The hoardes of Asians at Calif Uni’s show NOTHING bad about those Asian kids —it’s just another symbol of the completely out-of-control greed of the California public sector.
California universities actually have had a no discrimination policy (no affirmative action) since the late 90s. Asian enrollment has surged since that time because they are no longer being discriminated against.
Probably not the Asians threatening her. It is those liberals with white guilt. You know, the ever so tolerant left.
