A group of concerned citizens who call themselves the Sagebrush Coalition approached the Grand County Council this week requesting help to save public access on Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service roads.
“We’ve got a lot of problems in the county,” said Ray Tibbetts, a former county commissioner and member of the coalition. “We as citizens out here need your help. Everybody’s trying to close the roads on the mountains, on the public lands.”
The coalition’s plea spurred on other citizens, who said they initially had no intention of addressing council, to voice their concerns about limited access to roads, trails and campgrounds, not just in Grand County but across the West, and specifically in areas controlled by the Forest Service.
“This is not just happening here. It’s happening in every state in the West; anywhere from California [to] Idaho, everybody’s having problems,” Tibbetts said. “It’s a takeover. There’s something much greater than we can realize here.”
Tibbetts added that if all of the affected states could assemble a coalition and fight as a unified force then change might actually occur.
James Tibbetts, chairman of the coalition said that when the Forest Service received federal stimulus funds last year, they continued to close roads.
“They closed roads all over this place. Near as I can tell, 800 to 900 roads were closed. It’s a sad fact but they closed them,” James Tibbetts said.
He said that he hoped the council would write letters to the Forest Service to help get those roads reopened.

I have no idea. I have probably post the words AGENDA 21 5000 times since I joined FR. I am going to guess their Give A Damn gauge is busted or they support it.
Oh, please, I have read about the stupid deal, how many court cases do you want to lose. Maybe you are like the democraps and think the court does not apply to you. I think the state has already thrown in the towel so maybe you should consider it as well.
