A Wisconsin judge Friday morning issued a temporary restraining order delaying the implementation of a law that will curtail collective bargaining for public-employee unions.
Judge Maryann Sumi said that a lawsuit filed by the Dane County District Attorney had enough merit to delay Secretary of State Doug LaFollette from publishing Gov. Scott Walker's budget-repair bill while she reviews the case. The law takes effect when it is published.
In his complaint, Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne argued that the state's open-meeting laws were violated when Republican leaders moved the bill through committee last week.

Judge Sumi is scheduled to hear a separate case Friday brought by Dane County officials alleging that Republicans did not have the necessary quorum in place when they passed the bill.
Cullen Werwie, a spokesman for Mr. Walker, said, "This legislation is still working through the legal process. We are confident the provisions of the budget-repair bill will become law in the near future."
Andrew Welhouse, a spokesman for Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, declined to comment on the judge's ruling "because it's an ongoing legal matter."
Senate Democrats, who had fled the state last month to protest the bill, said the ruling puts Republicans in a difficult position.

Excuse me, that's Governor Walker, thank you.
Liberal rag enmity anyone?
I believe a judge has to show that implementing a duly passed law with questions of legality has to cause irreparable harm to an interested party. That this is the case is clearly false. This stay is corrupt politics, clear and simple.
because lets face it, most in the republican party have no balls and are afraid of picking any fights with our corrupt media and the left
Hell the GOP and most of talk radio can’t even talk about conservative social issues like homosexuality in the schools and that is when most of Americans agree with them
Rule 93 says the 24 hour notice does not apply to Special Sessions.
right so how the hell can any judge even a liberal one like this one can do what she did.
I mean usually these lefty so called judges usually make some kind of excuse and twist the words of a law but rule 93 makes it perfectly clear that there does not have to be any special notice?
The Dems are saying that the majority need to speak and be heard well why does that not apply to Govt socialist health care then ?
Yet again hypocrisy and with the help of the corrupt biased media then they will get away with yet another law thrown out when it suits them

Pretty clear that they were in Special Session being the name of the meeting had “Special Session” written in it. This judges ruling will be overturned next week and if it’s not then the Republicans need to just revisit it and detain the Rats before the Roll Call.
More proof it was a Special Session.

“Do that and Wisconsin will be totally Democrat by next year.”
So you’re saying the majority of Wisconsinites want to be taxed out of their homes, live in hovels and feed their kids canned beans so fat union slobs can eat lobster and vacation in Paris?
So I guess the last election was a case of mass insanity. Right?
Which part of your formula do unions belong to???
Let’s see, the public service unions are obviously government.
The private sector I would say are out and out Fascists.
I am not pro union of any kind. Too many of them treat their members as if they own them. It is against all that freedom stands for, IMHO. Workers unite sounds to commie for me.
The ruling was not on the substance. It was, in both suits, on procedure.
These are delaying tactics. They also want to accuse Walker and the GOP of “ignoring a judges’ order”,even though it is just fine for the Federal administration to do so.
I expect a fast appeal and our AG to intervene.
This is theater.
Not a problem... start laying off workers, or declare bankruptcy and renegotiate all contracts for state workers. Face it, the state of Wisconsin is broke!
I'm glad the entire country can see the Democrat party operates.
Click to watch the new Democrat party crash the State Capitol.
I’m saying the majority of Democrats will soak the rich and not be taxed out of their homes. They’ll kick the can down the road again, but keep their union benefits and pensions and put it on the backs of the rich.
