Imagine the crushing judicial power of a modern nation coming down upon you, trying you, sentencing you, and then planning your execution all while the charges against you remain secret. You might recall that as the plot of Franz Kafkas paranoiac novel, The Trial, the protagonist of which is a 30-year-old bank clerk. Under the spell of Kafkas masterful telling, the reader is left feeling almost as though the horror of the sentence pales in comparison to simply not knowing why.
I revisited the haunted feeling of that novel over the past week or so as the case of the 13-month-old baby, Joseph Maraachli...

I can’t think of any other reason than just plain old evil, and make no mistake, it is everywhere in this nation. I think it feeds off itself sort of like a nuclear chain reaction.
If something really strong doesn’t happen soon we are gone.
Reading it all, it was very moving.
You're asking to comprehend the incomprehensible.
It's utterly incomprehensible that we kill innocent little babies by the millions - but this is what we do. In this regard, we make animals look civilized, as only in very rare circumstances will an animal kill its offspring.
See my tagline.
THE TRIAL. I never did get it Mary. What did Josef K do?
He never found out.
I’d love to read your article but the link doesn’t work, nor does directly going to catholiclane.com. very frustrating.
wow ... firefox fails to find the site but safari does just fine ... weird. One of life’s unexplained mysteries I guess. Never mind, as Emily Latella might say.
Selfishness. Inability to self sacrifice. Oh, and doctors like to think they are God.
I’ve asked myself the same thing often.
The best I can come up with - is it seems the notion of “self sacrifice” -putting aside your own desires to nurture another person has become, in the eyes of the world, a sin.
The world is trying to teach us that it is virtuous to continually seek our own “fulfillment” - and any irritating distractions like spouses and children be-damned (think “Eat Pray Love”)
To allow another person to distract you from this road of self fulfillment is a weakness - you are letting yourself down.
What worse thing can happen then - then to find out you’re having a baby? Especially if this baby may be less than perfect and demand even more time and care than most babies.
Inconveniences. Burdens. Obstacles.
You can sense the distaste and disdain from certain women.
I don’t think it’s a hatred of babies at all, but a fear of the disabled and deformed and dying. They remind us too much of our own vulnerability and mortality.
According to Obama, a baby is a “punishment’
This poster should be plastered at every public school and on billboards in every state. It is such truth. Do you see a birth certificate anywhere, BTW?
Cain’t put it in skools. It say pray...
That’s right - and providing care for the little ones that survive an abortion is too much of a “burden”

I revisited the haunted feeling of that novel over the past week or so as the case of the 13-month-old baby, Joseph Maraachli, played out in the media. Just as it seemed a few years ago that the juggernaut of state power in the United States had inexplicably determined to crush the life out of Terri Schiavo, now the state power of Canada was turned against an ill infant. In Terri Schiavos case, however, there was a family member who was complicit, who had brought the state power to bear; but in the case of Baby Joseph, his parents wanted him to live, or at least to be properly treated until (if as doctors predicted) his degenerative illness carried him away. That is to say, they did not want him denied treatment just because he was only going to die anyway.
With Fr. Frank Pavones intervention (along with that of many others), Baby Joseph was transferred Sunday night from the Canadian hospital to Cardinal Glennon Childrens Medical Center in St. Louis.
No entity of government in the United States has fixed its malevolent eye on him. Yet.
Ive just had to ponder this. What is it about a baby? A baby! That creates such murderous rage in the hearts of people that they would collude in his destruction, that the worst news they could receive would be that he is alive and well? Because make no mistake, for the Canadian hospital and their court system, the worst thing that could happen at this point would be that Baby Joseph survives.
We have a Pennsylvania abortionist going on trial for killing infants that survived his crude late-term abortion attempts. We have a president who, while in the Illinois legislature voted against protecting the lives of babies born alive during attempted abortions. In both cases the most unwelcome conclusion was that the babies live. Why? I cant get that question out of my mind. Unlike Kafkas hapless protagonist, these babies cannot ask why for themselves they cannot protest, as an assertion of their human dignity, being killed like a dog. But the question should haunt the rest of us.
Why?
Down through history uncomprehending infants have been killed. Infant heirs of position or privilege have been killed by rivals we all kind of get that. Offspring killed out of vengeance against their parent/s or family or tribe, etc. that is sad but still makes a kind of sense. Even Herods murderous campaign is understandable as power seeking to maintain itself. But now, something is afoot that human reasons, even greed and venality, do not adequately explain.
I think it really comes down to rebellion against the Incarnation. Every babys cry echoes Bethlehem to the ears of the West once won to the Cross and now, having rejected it, the demonic hatred of life and Life cannot be disguised any more by a veneer of civilization. Nothing anymore is feared and loathed so much as a baby.
So we stand on the side of the angels to preserve the lives of babies unborn and born. We stand against the power of states and the edicts of courts. And we point to the tiny toes and dimpled knees, the rosebud lips and eyes wide in innocent wonder, and we say, Behold, a baby. This is what you are afraid of. Do you even know why?

And how many “Catholics” and other “Christians” voted for the giant RAT that lives in the White House?! Pathetic.
Yesterday, in our children’s “Catholic” school, they learned from Lefty, the guest environwhacko speaker that everyone’s carbon footprint is so big we are going to need a new earth to survive.
Using the handy-dandy carbon footprint calculator found on the Globalist Rat website, my son found out that even if everyone lived off grubs in the middle of woods it would still take 3.25 planet Earth’s to “sustain” the human population. The only implication is that we need less people on the Earth.
I am so happy that our Catholic school invited this dirtbag to spew his filth to our children. /s
And yes, the school heard from me. I sent them a stack of documents discussing the lies of carbon pollution.
I just do not see how any Christian, most especially a Catholic, can rationalize voting for, or supporting in any way, a politician who supports abortion.
